The card for having 2+ Scandal is actually reasonably good. You can get 10 Jade and a Favour: Hell for 2 CP of Scandal if you have enough Ruthless for it. The other menace cards are worth avoiding, though.

What is the best best new piece to work on after being restored to the Expresses court?
I just got restored to court and I'm wondering which work has the best payoff. I have all of my Renown at least above level 5 so that isn't an issue for works requiring it.

If you've also unlocked the Court of the Wakeful Eye, definitely the Carnelian ballet because it accumulates Tribute on top of the typical reward. Personally, though, I'd recommend playing through every option. I'm currently doing so to keep the Poet-Laureate grind interesting, and that's what makes Poet-Laureate my favorite grind so far. The text is worthwhile, you receive positive reinforcement fairly often, and there's so much variation on what you can do.
My personal favorite work is a Celestial Spectacle (a play). It's by far one of my favorite pieces of text in the game. Others are oddly satisfying, like the practical undergarments and song for the people. Try them all, I say: it'll be worth your time.

Okay fair enough. 
On a Less Serious Note, it seems to me that the Ambitions are all heading to Parabola for their finale updates.
