Hi all,

What have you found to be your preferred means of reducing this menace? I typically am able to keep Scandal in check, but every once in a while it approaches 8 and I don't want to visit the Tomb Colonies. Attending a Church Service under your Lodgings storylet is supposed to be a 70% based luck challenge, however, I've experienced this to be little more than 50/50 in practice.

I tend to play the Moral Afternoon card whenever it appears, but if it still gets out of check, I'll usually resort to social actions. Simply put, nothing comes close to their efficiency.

Some may consider it cheating, other diehard fans consider it necessary, but everyone will agree that there is no better way of reducing menaces than having an alt-account made specifically for that purpose; to spam it full with your own requests of reducing menaces, and it then serving you in that way. I consider card based menace reductions just too slow, and if it weren't for my friendly neighbourhood doctor, I'd visit the mirror-marches, tomb colonies, river and prison a lot more than I'd wish to.

The Soul Shepherd card is my preferred method.
Ablution Absolution comes second.
Note that the Tomb-Colonies are not that bad: it can torpedo your quirks, but it can also give favours and mourning candles galore.

My prefered method is simply waiting for the Colonies, if you don't care about your quirks, it's perfectly easy!
While I do care about my quirks, the Tomb Colonies are pretty alright to go to. You can grab a Tomb Lion there, some mourning candles, and you get a free Tomb Colonies Favour once you go there!
To make it more manageable, I stocked up on Connected: The Duchess (Shuttered Palace, trade Society Favours for Connected: The Duchess)

If you wish to guard your quirks with your life:
Find a friend who you can Dupe or as Jolanda said, Soul Shepherd!
Ablution Absolution is pretty handy if you want to reduce a bit of Suspicion as well!

pleasure to meet you.

Has some ideas the Masters won't approve of like some items and establishing a Colony in Parabola.

I will accept most social interactions (not duping). I do enjoy role playing as well.
Have some possibly still active codes!

Life on Ladybones Road -> Associate yourself with a different philosophy -> Edit a book of meditations on the Anchoress

3 actions to reduce Scandal by 3. Which isn't great, but you also net 4.5 echoes of items and some Making Waves. It's easy and even reasonably profitable—you'll match the earnings of spending one action on duping someone and five more on grinding if your grind is 1.8 EPA or worse.

The downside besides needing a regular supply of foxfire candle stubs is that you'll lose all your Melancholy. The only a downside for those who wallow in maudlin moods, maybe, but people care about these things.

If one purchases the Face Tailor Fate-locked story, it gives you an Opportunity Card that does a good job of eliminating Scandal of 2 or less.

Is that for a specific ending? I couldve sworn mine only reduces suspicion..

That's correct. There's four endings, iirc, each of which unlocks a new option on an existing card. (The suspicion one is best in my opinion since it doesn't conflict with a favour gain option.)
