If I have a visit from the Amanuensis in my hand when I summon him from my lodgings, will I still keep the card in my hand afterward?

No. Summoning the Amanuensis, and all similar options, effectively add the card in question to your hand. If you already have the card it's a waste of an action.

A math questions. Apparently, you can grind Favours: The Docks through the Crash! storylet at the Mutton Island. Taking into the account time to travel there, 1 favour obtained that way would cost ~30 actions. Did anyone do the math: on average, would that allow to faster accumulate Renown, than just waiting for the opportunity cards?

Did anyone do the math: on average, would that allow to faster accumulate Renown, than just waiting for the opportunity cards? It really depends on your opportunity deck. If you have a trim deck, a Taciturn Mynah, and are Held in Esteem by the crew of the Galatea, then you can get Favours at roughly the same rate on average (assuming we're optimizing for real time as opposed to actions).
A better option is to grind actions that change your Airs of London and Confide in the Chandleress when you get 96+. It takes fewer actions on average, and it allows you to keep flipping opportunity cards.

Hello all, Quick question from someone just starting to get into the Exceptional Stories. Do the rare/unique items found during the stories ever come into play later during regular story/action choices? Or are their uses tied to further Fate-locked content? Thanks!

Which stories are you referring to? Starting with Flint, all stories are part of an Exceptional Season and give a related item. Completing all three stories in a season, and thus having all three items, lets you hand them in for a valuable (312.5 echo) item and a unique story. Starting with the Season of Wrecks, each conclusion is related to the seasonal hub's story.
Some Exceptional Stories also do unlock options in later Fate-locked content, or provide unique equipment items.

I was curious about the current Season of Embers content, but might consider going back to some other ES content too. Thanks for the insight!

Excuse me my delicious friends, but does anyone happen to know what the reward is for answering the Mysteries' questions correctly is?
I tried searching for the answer for what people got in the past from answering questions correctly, but I couldn't find anything at all.
Perhaps it's because I've heard that it has been a long time since they last last did it, but if anyone knows I'd appreciate the answer.
If I had to take a guess, I thought it might be a fate reward, though that doesn't seem too realistic due to the worth of fate..
Danke for your time.

In the one previous run of the Mysteries, the reward was Fate. This time, it seems likely that it won't be - it seems much more likely that we will be awarded a separate Mystery currency for correct answers which we will then be able to spend on ?????? a whole suite of "old and new" items/qualities/stuff.
Basically, no one is really sure, it's probably different from last time, and I'm quite excited.

The most specific answer we have is still rather cryptic (as is tradition). From here: http://community.failbettergames.com/topic26459-mysteries-marking-and-rewards.aspx
Rewards will be available to players with points to spend; some will be new.
Previous FBG gospel had mentioned points or a currency, but had not specified which one. Prior to the above revelation people had assumed Fate, but that appears now to be incorrect.

Does anyone know when the Fruits of the Zee Festival starts? Could have sworn it was earlier last year.
