The character creation bug that popped up yesterday was a side-effect of the current bugs we're experiencing with missing branches and the stat/quality boost issues.
In light of this, we'll be taking the beta version of the new site offline until we're confident the issues are resolved.
We'll be in touch with people who have recently created accounts that have been affected by this bug. If you have not heard from us but have experienced any issues with a newly created account, please get in touch with support@failbettergames.com

Good luck to you all at FBG! As a software developer, I know a rollout going this badly is pretty demoralizing. But y'all will get it right in the end and lots of people are looking forward to the new website, so keep strong

And beyond that, I think you (Absintheuse) and Fallen London deserve credit for being so upfront and straightforward about what's going on, what issues you're addressing and soliciting and responding to feedback. That speaks very well of you as a company (especially given your size); it's very...Netflix-ian, I dare say.

Honestly, as far as glitches go, I’ve seen worse. I recommend reopening it as an open beta once you feel the game-impacting problems are ironed out, though: don’t try going from closed beta to full release again.
