Here's this week's thread for short questions, and also for long questions if you can say them very fast!

The New Sequence are technically revolutionaries in that they want to overthrow the government, yes, but "Revolutionaries", the faction, refers to Fallen London's socialists and anarchists, while the New Sequence are arch-conservatives - military types, monarchists and proto-fascists. Go with the Docks (the core of the Sequence are naval officers), or one of the other elite factions.

Mechanically, the best faction to be close to while staying true to the character is The Great Game. Closest To doesn't mean much beyond roleplaying, but those closest to The Great Game or the Bohemians are able to cycle through the entire Counting the Days loop without cards, meaning you can much more easily obtain items like the Consonant Violin or an Iron-Republic pass. The Great Game also makes sense for a New Sequencer because it's a mechanism to expand its subtle power in London; bear in mind that the Voracious Diplomat, the face of the New Sequence in London, trades in vital intelligence and is both a spy and a diplomat, both closely tied to the Great Game.

The Docks do make sense as well because they're a natural area of expansion for the New Sequence's influence, and more likely than not, the characters allied with the New Sequence have a close tie to the zee; the New Sequence itself was founded by those in the Admiralty, which is far more "high society" than the Docks, but they share that tie to the zee.

Revolutionaries are an option, but for the most part, the Revolutionaries faction in Fallen London are anarchists closely tied to the Calendar Council and the Liberation of Night - bringing total darkness to the Neath. Suffice to say, the Revolutionaries are much better as a complete ideological enemy to the New Sequence, which is ironic, because
June of the Calendar Council most likely designed the Dawn Machine itself.
You can't guarantee victory even with perfect Watchful gear, so it's in the realm of 425 actions.

Unfortunately there is no way to grind Elements of Dawn, AFAIK. They only drop from some ES's.

Hello! I'm rather new in the game, and it seems like I have a lot of stories open, and can't find a way to end them... in other words, I don't know what I'm doing! Here is a link to my profile:

I made Paramount Presence and I wonder how I can extend that special invitation that garners both the Presence and the invited player a decent Making Waves gain (but needs a Free Evening). Anyone happens to know?
I assume that you're looking for "Invite a patron to a private hansom ride."
This is located at Lodgings>Deal with matters of Patronage!>Teach London.

easter, do not worry about the dreams. They advance slowly, which is why most people do not give up their dreams qualities to advance Heart's Desire. Once you are able to sail on your own ship, you will get the tentacle key. It takes time, but this is how it is supposed to be.

lyaiyai, this is because in the Story tab, you are in a storylet instead of the main page. Just go to Story, click on Perhaps Not and get back to the front page. Then go to Myself, and use the items! It happens all the time.

As for the open stories, do not worry. Just play the cards as they come along and they will eventually resolve themselves! Try every option in the Story page too. At first, you have way too many stories and you might feel lost or make weird choices, but eventually you get the hang of it. Also, check the wiki! It can help you along if you wonder where a certain card leads.

On the "The Mayor of London" card, by protesting you get 1 or 2 scraps. You can also convert Inklings of Identity to them, which are in turn made from Proscribed Materials.

It is more recommended that you play the game, which will give you the money you need, especially at the start.

Are you a Paramount Presence? Record your name here. For posterity, of course.

I believe that the "Advance your friendship to a condition of intimacy" option from her A Visit card is the only way to get it above 9, and odds are definitely not in your favor (30-40%, from my memory back when I consistently chose it). Plus, if the wiki is right, that will only get it to 10.

Perhaps she's just too sardonic to gain any more intimacy to anyone.

Wiki is correct as I was lucky enough to get 3 consecutive rare success, but this happened after after about 25 attempts (17 regular and 8 rare).

Ah, I see. Well I surely did fancy the diplomat back when I played SS, but the only thing which bothers me a little in this case is that I already am closest to them with my main, so I kind of want to avoid doing the same stuff over again and instead would want to see more of the literature in London.

Supposably then if we cut off the Great game and Revolutionaires, then only the Docks remain, as a reminder of days long past when it comes to the ties of the Sequence and the Admiralty? Really is a damn shame that there are no specific ties possible to that beautiful glowing enigma, but atleast I can gather Elements of Dawn, ayy! Note that I am very new to the game and only learning...Found London two months ago through Sunless sea.

I am curious bout one thing, and need a detailed lore knowledge advice: I made a sequencer character (the sun, the sun!), and I am a little stuck on who to be closest to. I was thinking of the revolutionairies, because the New Sequence ARE revolutionaries, right? Not too sure though. Was also considering the dockers, because the only way of getting close to the dawn machine is by ship. Any ideas? Insights?
