Is there anything significant in the Iron Republic if I don't much care for devils, either mechanically or lore-wise? I didn't get around to grabbing a Safe-Conduit before the Renown conversions, and then I didn't want to raise Renown to keep the Intimate of Devils cards from cluttering my deck, but now I'm planning to eventually wipe Renown with SMEN so if it's worth it I could grab the Safe-Conduit before I do.
I already know that you can use it to rid yourself of menaces while zailing, get the Renown: Hell 40 reward, and max out Austere specificaly, none of which particularly interest me. Is there anything else notable in there or is that about it? Mechanically, you can get there an Iron Republic Journal, which is a +2 BDR weapon.
You'll also need to visit the Republic at some point if you're pursuing the Ambition: Nemesis.
Other than that, it's a very strange and unique place. It completely unlike anywhere else in FL. I highly recommend visiting it at least once.

You can change the pet whenever you draw the card (and by going back to Watchmaker's Hill). The pets have no effects outside of their cards (unless you count the +1 BDR). I generally change to whatever faction I am working on at the time (unless I'm gathering favours for resources)

The Bishop's past is shrouded in mystery, but it does suggest he's had some direct experience artificial or otherworldly humans before - and on the Surface, no less. It's the faintest reflection of the outline of a story.

Is there a way to wipe Renown and lodgings through SMEN?

What on Earth is going on with the Bishop of Southwark and these newborn redheads he keeps shooting in the Labyrinth? Does anyone know what happened to him in Dublin?

If you enjoy the game at all, I’d recommend visiting every location at least once. Otherwise you’ll never know what you’re missing, both in content leading up to the journey, and the locale itself.

That's what they're referring to. Fallen London isn't the kind of game where gameplay can radically change for a small section.
Well, to be fair, the Iron Republic also has (had?) a pretty unique Shop tab.

How is the Discordance written?
Very carefully, and with gloves to fend off the frostbite. (Flippancy aside, we've got very little on the Discordance and I think it's all contained within the Persona Engine - I'd love more content related to it!)

I don't think there are any non-card options, and you can trade your pet as much as you wantz
