Well, it's been April Fools' Day, Easter, and the end of Australian Daylight Savings - Easter Fools Savings, if you will - so that means it's time for weekly questions!

Renown of 50 can be attained; you'll at least want to get 40 if you'd like to acquire all three renown-based items.

The Wry Ficntionary tale, continues in cards. Once it is concluded, you can revisit him when the A Visit card comes up, or you can just go for a favor.
Loved the story myself. Lots of content and many zero cost actions.

The Ambition is Heart's Desire. Something about finding the way by deciphering some disturbing notes scrawled on a wall, as I recall.

"You follow the path laid out in the writing on your walls..."
It wasn't easy, and you'll dream about it for a good many nights. But the way to the Forgotten Quarter is open!

The Wry Functionary content has two small stories on top of regular conversation, one of which is about the admiralty and one about his mother. If you've finished both of those, that's it.

Is coffee or dinner more efficient action-wise for grinding Making Waves?

Coffee gets you 3 MW for 1 action, dinner offered BY you grants 10 MW, and dinner offered TO you grants 15. Not sure how many actions it takes to eat a dinner in both ways, but being invited seems more productive. Got you one btw! No need in back-dinner.

Jenny has the following benefits: at the end of the carousel you have 50/50 chance for a favor (your choice, depending on what students you picked). You exit and your deck is comletely refreshed. After that, you go back to the school and pick your reward. The second choice is the more profitable, with 12 echoes worth of items.
So all in all, 1 echo per action, deck refill and half the time, a favor.

IIRC, you can open the path to the Forgotten Quarter via your lodgings, for the cost of 1 x London Street Sign (which you can even buy at the Bazaar if you have none).

(Most social actions are welcome. Please no requests to Loiter Suspiciously and no investigations of the Affluent Photographer)

Note that you can open the path to the Forgotten Quarter for free by progressing through the A Name in Seven Secret Alphabets tracker.

When I started playing (June 2017), I distinctly remember there was a way to open the way to the Forgotten Quarter (I think) via several actions and racking up Nightmares. What was that?

As I recall that one is linked to one of the ambitions, but I can't remember which one. I remember doing it though. I definitely had a character that unlocked the FQ much earlier than normal in a manner that was very nightmare-heavy.

Supposedly the Bleeding Forest expedition from Flint will be eventually reused for Dilmun Club content. Eventually being the key word.

I actually have a question on Sinning Jenny's Finishing School....

I've read snippets about the carousel being profitable in terms of refreshing one's actions and/or opportunity deck. Can someone please clarify what the bonus is and how best to capitalize upon?

Thanks in advance,

J-

Under the hood, Jenny's School is implemented as a Flash Lay with different content. Inside the School, your deck is unlimited. As a side-effect, when you exit the School your deck is completely refilled. There are a few other areas that work the same way--most notably Zailing, and off the top of my head, there's one such area in the Marriage of Feducci, although that one does not remain available after concluding the story.

I am not aware of any way to use Jenny's school to refresh actions.

Less a question and more a point of confusion/frustration: Regarding the Fate-locked story of the Velocipede Squad...[spoiler space]

Is the option to 'Expose the corruption' really not available? I don't understand why a Press Baron of Doubt Street would be intimidated by Jasper and Frank when I've gone up against the Masters directly in the Affair of the Box. Are my choices really limited to joining in or trying to reform from within? No searing expose to be found here?

Quite recently. In December I think the continuation of the Dilmun Club came up. Just a bit before that there was a flurry of activity with the Court and the Poet Laureate updates, as well as the Last Constable storyline. And of course, we had all the Renown upgrades.

With the fate locked story of the Wry Functionary, the last thing that happened was a failed assassination attempt and it stopped abruptly. Do I need to do something?
