Yes
If so, is it unsporting to use an amulet in an interplayer duel?
No, the winner gets the same rewards regardless of whether the loser actually dies.

Do we know if the Bishop of St Fiacre's face came from an actual churchman, or if he just flayed some random man? If the latter, how did he manage to rise through the church hierarchy without anybody realising what he is?

When you talk to him in Flint, the Bishop says he takes his faces from the dead and the willing, explaining the first one is easy for a churchman to access and the other is "more common than you think".
I'm pretty sure it has also been implied somewhere that he's already changed face during the course of being a Bishop - but take this with a grain of salt, as I can't give you a concrete source. edited by millea on 3/9/2018

One of the Rag Trade conversion mentions that the Bishop had to get a new mitre because his face or head changed shape.

Just what happened to Oscar Wilde in this world? I've heard it was as tragic as his real-life fate. Did he go North or the like?

I'm pursuing a Fate-locked option to retrieve my Soul, and declared that the Quiet Deviless took it. The first few cards showed up within two decks, but I've been flipping opportunity cards in Spite for a day or so now, with "Looking For Your Soul" at 6, finding nothing. Is the card of comparable rarity to the previous ones, or am I just unlucky, or flipping cards in the wrong location?

You might need a storylet next, so I suggest checking all the main areas to see if there's something new. If not, you're just getting unlucky.

We don't know anything more specific, though?

Mr Pages happened to him.
More specifically, Mr Pages took something of great importance to him. Oscar Wilde is better known as the Wilting Dandy, and you meet him while Ascending the Reliables list of Mr Pages. There, you are tasked with finding a book stolen from Mr Pages'library. You trace it to the Wilting Dandy and track down his address, where you are giving 2 choices.
I an relying on memory, so this may not be perfect. You can either take the book from him by force and bring it back to Mr Pages. This involves beating him with a chair until he lets go. Another option is let him keep the book. In which case, you learn that it formerly belonged to his lover and that it is all that he has left of him. Mr Pages is not pleased, but is willing to let you both go if you just copy the entire book down. Though he is very impatient and will frequently remind you why angering a Master was a bad idea in the first place.
edited by Harry P. on 3/10/2018

I gave up and decided to go with Fate after grinding through some sixty-something bundles of oddities at zee I need it back to continue my journey along the Seeking Road, and decided it may as well be done sooner rather than later. That being said, I've run across the Music-Hall Singer twice, the Solitary Glim-Sculptor four times, and a distinct lack of the next opportunity card. I do note that it's the only of the cards in this story arc on the wiki that does not have an entry, which does make me a little concerned that it's not functioning as intended. That being said, none of the four main areas offer any new storylets, so I imagine I'm just having a downturn of my luck. edited by Arensen on 3/10/2018

Sorry RL means I am not a very active player at the moment. No social actions unless you are prepared to wait and definitely no sparring or other mult-action things.
No Calling Cards or boxed cats please. Will take dupes on the affluent photographers. Other social invitations welcome. Parabolan Kittens usually available, send me an in-game social action saying you want one and I will get one to you as soon as possible.

Oscar Wilde is the Epigrammatic Irishman in this story, not the Wilting Dandy! Mr Pages dealt with him in a much more permanent manner. edited by a Nice Friend on 3/10/2018

Censorship department, remember? Censorship. Okay, not nicer exactly. More likeable? More sympathetic? Something like that.
If we don't know what exactly happened to Wilde I think I'll decide that he went North or something. It's the sort of beautifully foolish thing I can imagine him doing somehow. edited by GuesssWho on 3/10/2018

It is said that Mr Pages ate the Epigrammatic Irishman (Wilde) because Wilde said something Pages did not like - and stood by it. His last lover (probably Bosie) holds on to his last work, a celebration of their love. I doubt the book is De Prfundis given that in this universe Wilde did not have to go to prison at all. Page sends you to retrieve this and you can a) beat the poor guy and take it b) deny the Master and champion love, thus losing Masters: connected or c) Pay Fate to forge a perfect copy, and keep them both happy. edited by Jolanda Swan on 3/10/2018

Huh. I knew I was forgetting something. If I had remebered that the lover's name was the Epigrammatic Irishman, I would have realized that he was the Irishman Oscar Wilde.
Still, where did you hear about him being eaten by Mr Pages? I did not even know they ate humans in the first place. Beasts, sure but humans?
