Note some isitdown sites will variously report no problem or it's down depending where they start from. WhatMyDNS reports spotty problems but only uses a limited set of start locations.
Indeed we are! Any problems experienced with Fallen London today are indeed due to the Google DNS issues. It seems to have sorted itself out now, but if you are still having any issues you may want to try changing your DNS servers. Instead of zailing to Port Carnelian you need to go to the nearby but distinct destination of the Court of the Wakeful Eye. It's in the long list of destinations when you're at zee.

Depends on what you mean by worth it.
Will you turn a profit? Definitely not.
Can you get any amazing rewards? You can get Counterfeit Heads of John the Baptist, which can be nice if you want a quick route to exile in the Tomb-Colonies or exotic meals. You get a unique but not useful reward for winning the tournament. Otherwise, no, nothing in particular.
If you raise your plant all the way you stop drawing plant cards, which is nice. But that's a lot of actions, cards, and resources sunk into growing the thing.

No. This thread is about competing plants, not sparring bouts.
For the plants, each challenge is a single action, so no one can be stuck waiting on anyone else.
In your case, I'd suggest sending a request to FBG support so they can reset your sparring bout if the other player has indeed stopped playing. It's a problem with their current design of multi-step social actions.

If you have the right "Closest to..." connections you can do the whole thing without using cards at all. Rather than type a load of stuff here, it's probably simpler if I direct you to the Wiki guide for Counting the Days:

Is there a good way to grind Certifiable Scraps?
One mainly gets them from the lodgings cards. You can also turn in Urchins favors in the Flit (it's a card drawn there, unlike the other Call in Favours ones).
City Vices: What Profit?
It's fate locked (requiring one to go through the Soul Trade) so that's why it's not on the wiki. You can avoid it by getting a remote lodgings, available at Christmas (which unfortunately is quite a ways off).

You should probably report it. The bug is effectively flavor in SMEN, but it shouldn't happen in normal gameplay.

If you don't mind spending Fate it is possible, via the Corresponding Ocelot pet that you can gain by breeding things in the Labyrinth of Tigers. It has an option on its card that will slowly raise your SotC to ten (I'm fairly sure that's how I got mine that high).
But honestly, it doesn't take long to get back to the University. A couple of expeditions overseas and they were falling over themselves to let me back in. Only took me a few days once I knuckled down and got on with it, as I recall.

I've hiked the Forgotten Quarter for half a week (in RL time) with no reason and did SotC to 7 from 4 or about this. And got a nice skull trophy! Probably not the fastest way, but that was somewhat entertaining.

I seem to remember using that method too, but according to the Wiki it will only take you as far as 7, which is where Chrona is currently.

Alright, thank you! Yeah, I can sail for Port Carnelian right now, but for the expeditions I would have to do the preliminary research...which I'm mildly dreading. Damn, I wish I hadn't gotten kicked out of both before doing this..I'll have my notability before the other requirement!
On the note notability, is the only way to progress from watcher to agent with the message of dread import, with 2 notability?

I spent a while grinding up to Invisible Eminence and achieved it this morning, but during that time.... I kind of forgot what I wanted it for. Is there anything fun/cool/exceptional you can do with Invisible Eminence other than feature in tales of misdeeds or adopt a protege?

Well you'll be able to spend your Notability on boosting your base stats (up to 215 with 15 notability). And you can continue on the specialization path someday to achieve Paramount Presence, though that's a very end-game grind.
So yeah, mostly for RP/bragging rights/etc.

Alright so I have Embroiled in the Wars of Illusion 6 but the max to raise my A Name Whispered in Darkness quality is 5. Will there be another option to increase that quality or have I screwed up big-time? On the last weekly questions Harry P said that I should still have access to the Heights of Chicanery and I do, but I'm locked out of the option entitled Making Your Name: Wars of Illusion.

Just make sure that you collect 80 x Tribute and play the storylet in the Fifth Coil ("A Sufficient Tribute") to advance your Associating with Radical Academics to 20 before setting sail to the Court.

Er, I just went to get a new Minister. I came back to London, but . . . now I have something like -200m opportunity cards? I know this happens with the Eaten storyline at a specific point, but I'm not *doing* that storyline.
Is this affecting anyone else, or do I need to submit a bug report to FBG?

My main sources of scraps are the Bazaar lodgings and the Lair in the Marshes lodgings, since they're profitable cards to use even regardless of the scraps.
