Can anyone confirm that the only non fate-locked goodies that are new this year are: the skull, the enthusiastic visitor and the correspondence with the incarcerate?

Question: I just got my Renown Society to rank 20. I was wondering if it was worth using the option on the Bazzar card when I next get some favors, and if so the best way to go about it.

--
I will accept all actions, though I hold the right to refuse for my own reasons. However, if you explain WHY you send me a harmful action like Loitering or Dantes,And I feel the reason good, I will consider it more. http://fallenlondon.storynexus.com/Profile/Kylestien

Unless they've changed it, it is not worth it.

Edit: apparently it was improved with the favours update (plus it only costs favours now). So my answer is now maybe :P

I have her in hand - apparently she's Frequent. Oftentimes in these events card-storylets become pinned towards the end of the festival. Hopefully this happens here too!

Thank you for the reply.

Here's hoping it does become pinned, as I cannot seem to draw her in any form.

You mean the Private Auction? It's expensive, but I like it. You trade 7 Society Favours and a personal Recommendation (both of which you can get fairly readily through the party invitation) and a Collection of Curiosities (which you can grind via War of Assassins) for cash (3643–10697 x Penny) and MW (+95-140 CP), according to the Wiki entry.

Edit: I haven't done the math, and if Suinicide says it's not worth it, then that means it's probably not efficient in terms of action use.

Hieronymus Drake: Gentleman scholar, big-game hunter, scar-faced aristocrat. Remarkably sane, all things considered.
Tanith Wyrmwood: Longshanks cat-burglar; Bohemian author; now, perhaps, something more. Bubbly, expressive, and affectionate. It’s not only still waters that run deep.
Telemachia Lee: Gentle lady by birth, brawling Docker by choice. Good company in the drunk tank.

The Private Auction is one of the best ways in the game to get lots of MW in one go.

When grinding NW for Notability you don't just look at how many action it takes overall. An option which gives 100 CP of MW but requires 49 prior actions to setup is often better than an action which gives 2 CP of MW which you can repeat at will.

I'm pretty sure there's a case as part of the story proper.

Correct.

Want to add some things:
1) You can get a box via Nadir either with End of Battles card or by pilling Dramatic Tension.
2) When grinding MW for Notability, it's kind of great to have Talk of Town pilled up (Polite invitation card) and, when need arises, do a party and pick the Personal Recommendation option which grants 40 MW!

Putting things together, you waste ~80 E via the box and Society favours cash in (but takes 7 more AP), plus AP from parties, but those can offer low of extra favours or can be simply used to pump MW back from TtH visit.

AP from parties can vary a lot depending on your needs. I do parties in 6-7 AP depending on rare success from arriving late (followed by Devil/Contrarian) so let's add 7 more AP (just for example porpoise because you need more parties before cash in).

The private auction gives ~71 E so you end loosing 20 E (difference from Box of curios and soc favours). Add 7 Society favours, 7 more AP to finish a party for the recommendation. If you go for it means that you need MW so 54 AP (total) for 40 + 118 MW.

TLDR: Way worth it! If you are prepared with Polite and Bazaar cards plus 7 Soc favours you can get an average of 158 MW from 8 AP plus nice E out of it!

Oh, parties refresh you deck which is a big deal when hunting for Notability!

What does one do with a bifurcated owl? After capping out the SotC gain, specifically. Does its card just become discard fodder?

I've always found the words rather sad -- that poor weasel, even when the results are successful. I do sometimes play the other option, though.

Are there any easy ways to increase renown? I need more for both the church and the devils, because common sense is apparently overrated in the Neath.

Not really. Get up to five Renown at the carnival, after that you simply have to collect favours and then convert them into Renown using the faction's Renown item (which you generally have to buy, though some of them do crop up in play.) It's a Brass Skull for the Devils and a Reliquary for the Church. It's a very slow, grindy process because Failbetter likes that sort of thing.

There are a few one-time direct Renown increases in the game, but they are few and far between, and I couldn't even start telling you where to find them.

Is there a place in the carnival for those two, though?

Hello friends! I had drawn a date with my Devout Intriguer spouse a day ago! I was in hurry and played by cellphone so I just remember there were 3 options and we went to museum and there were a certain text and a rich reward. What was that? Are fate-locked spouses gained their Opportunity cards at last?

The second option has a rare success that is quite profitable. Just be careful with the nightmares that the regular success and failure give.

Sorry RL means I am not a very active player at the moment. No social actions unless you are prepared to wait and definitely no sparring or other mult-action things.

No Calling Cards or boxed cats please. Will take dupes on the affluent photographers. Other social invitations welcome. Parabolan Kittens usually available, send me an in-game social action saying you want one and I will get one to you as soon as possible.

Do we know how alive the Earth is and how high in the Chain she is relative to everyone else?
Is the Nadir made by Earth or did it originate somewhere else?
