St Frankenstein's Day is nearly here, so here's this week's thread for questions about the creation of life from lifeless material!
...I have been informed that I am slightly confused about the nature of the upcoming holiday, but this is this week's questions thread nonetheless.

Not sure about the Gentleman, but the Dowager gives +9 Dangerous, +6 Persuasive, and +1 Dreaded.
Edit: Apparently the Gentleman is +6 Persuasive, +5 Shadowy, and +1 Dreaded edited by Alice Lutwidge on 2/13/2018

So I saw this new sidebar snippet:
The most quickly-censored book in Fallen London was a children's book entitled 'Loste in the Myste: St Destin's Children'. Launched at nine o'clock on a Thursday, the Ministry had already banned and removed it from shelves by eight forty-five. Am I correct in interpreting it as the book being removed 15 minutes before launch, perhaps through timey-wimey shenanigans?
I wasn't sure if it was 11 hours 45 minutes or -15 minutes.

I'd take that to mean that the Ministry knew about the book's publication in advance, and prevented its release almost at the last minute.

Time is, after all, strange in the Neath. Having said that, I still haven't chanced upon the Encounter card for 24 hours now. Anyone else have that problem? Should I contact services? It seems like an RNG issue, but you never know.

It seems like an RNG issue, but you never know. It's the RNG being petulant, I think. I remember someone last year who didn't see the card at all until the last day of the Feast. Here's hoping that you won't have that difficulty, but I think it's fair to say that that nothing but ill luck is involved.

So uh... we gonna sticky this thread or what?
Also happy Pancake Day everyone! Or whatever your local variation of Shrove Tuesday may be, up to and including Mardi Gras and/or Carnival, but they are but mere reflections of the clearly superior holiday celebrating the Cake of Pan.

I've not seen the "Lady in Lilac" at all; I'm worried I won't be able to gain more masqueing by trading in items before the deadline. Does anyone know her frequency? :-S

I have her in hand - apparently she's Frequent. Oftentimes in these events card-storylets become pinned towards the end of the festival. Hopefully this happens here too!

Hello, Neathly Folks! Happy Festive to everyone!
Two extremely important questions, as I have reached the limit of my Ambition and considering if I shall pursue another (yeah, let's spend some Fate and support Failbetter so they release Sunless Skies in perfect shape )
1) Are there any Ambitions that have been completely written? And are they meant to be? I was really bummed, when I suddenly hit the edge of content in my run for Nemesis - I was sooooo angry and bloodlusty, and now I can't even make those behind the whole story suffer! (characters, not FBG ) 2) How often do Ambitions get new chapters? Is it feasible waiting for it?

The Ambitions hadn't been updated since June 2015, and then Light Fingers received an update late last year as part of the Fallen London Reworks project (bringing it to parity with the other Ambitions). The FLR project brought progress to quite a few narrative loose ends in Fallen London, but it officially concluded in December, and FBG has not yet stated what their goals or timelines are for 2018. Given their recent cutbacks, I'm not entirely sanguine about them putting out new content like they did in the latter half of 2017, at least until Sunless Skies is launched.

If you don't mind me asking some lore questions, or at least point out in what content I could possibly find the answers
Who are the owls? And what exactly is the hunt?
edited by Bitty on 2/14/2018

I have a question. Several, in fact.
First, if, for some reason, one fails to draw the Lady in Lilac card by the end of the Feast, will it become a pinned storylet, like Mr Sacks' cards?
Second, how long do we have before our Masquing disappears and the Feast ends?

Who are the owls? And what exactly is the hunt? If you're talking about The Seventh Letter, a Kickstarter backer for Cultist Simulator got to ask Alexis Kennedy a lore question, and they asked for details on the characters. They shared the reply, so I'm pretty sure it's ok to post it here:
"The Messenger is of course the Bazaar. The Phoenix is an untroubled star, busy at the melodramas of the High Wilderness.. The Owls are the Masters; the Dragons, the enforcement-emanations of Law; the Ravens, the lesser incarnates of the Liberation in the days before there was war in Heaven. Time is (as Aulus Gellius knew) the father of Truth, but is also of course in turn the child of Law. I've probably missed a couple, but I don't have the text to hand, and it was a very broad question."
Can anyone confirm that A Trade in Faces has a case to solve? I see this wiki page (retired), but my guess is that there WILL be a case. That story wasn't just an alternative to start the Trade.

I just hit 29 BDR in the Feast, considering all equipment, plus I got my second tattoo. Does that mean my BDR is now 31?

Should, yeah. BDR is listed on the sidebar so put on all your junk and add up some numbers. The tattoos add to your *base* BDR (the red number), whereas equipment add to the *modified* BDR (the white number with a + before it).
