A Sudden Hunger For Stones Messages in this topic - RSS

Friends! I would never be so gauche as to say "first post!" but salutations! This is my first venture onto the boards since I took up the Great Game some years ago. What prompts this unprecedented foray?

I need a rock.

In my defense, it is a very shiny rock. A single Venom-Ruby will net me a snazzy walking-stick, for which my hunger is frankly unreasonable in its ardor. Name your price! I'd be more than happy to reciprocate through the Commotion card or any social congress a generous stone donor might desire. Feel free to apply here or message me directly. In the idiom of the Colonies where I passed my youth, thanks, y'all!

Anyone interested in acquiring stones is also invited to reply to this message. There's an earlier thread for rock-related doings, but it appears to have fizzled three years ago, and I am not in the business of necromancy, digital or otherwise. I'm happy to take up the faceted banner.

Cheers,

I can do that, pending the card showing up. No charge, I'll be glad to be rid of them. The monkeys and urchins that have overrun my lodgings will insist on playing marbles with them, and they leave the damn things all over the floor for me to slip on and nearly break my neck.

Send to the character in your signature, yes?

Just so! Plynkes, you're a gentlebeing and a scholar. Don't hesitate to add me as a connection. Should you ever find yourself in need, I'd be more than happy to return the favor.

My thanks to you, friend! As it happens, I have been provided with stones. One "Barse." As questions of identity so often arise in the Neath, I cannot be certain if that is you or another. Should you be Barse, my thanks! Should you and Barse differ, my thanks to you both, to you for kind consideration and worthy effort on my behalf, to Barse for the very shiniest of stones, and the ostentatious walking-stick I have assembled thereby.

To any others who happen across this message, I now have a surfeit of rocks. Anyone in need of diamonds or sapphires is encouraged to apply, and anyone with other lapidary concerns is encouraged to post here. Let there be a Gem Exchange!

No problem! Didn't mean to steal anyone's thunder, Plynkes, but I drew the card and remembered this thread. Try not to blind too many butlers with that walking stick!

I hear bombazine slipcovers are particularly effective.

If no one would mind diverting a few stones Arsene's way, I would greatly appreciate it and assist in whatever way I can. While I don't mind grinding for the sapphires (and obtaining my very own flock of bats in the meantime), I rather remember getting the rubies to be a royal pain the ass.

Plynkes, Barse, my thanks again to both of you. My cane is blinding in its magnificence. Also just regular blinding. I may need to retain counsel for injury suits.

Chrona, I have the gift card in hand, but am one bloody ruby short of being able to transmit it. Should my fortune turn, I will be more than happy to pass my spare stones along. To whom much is given, much is expected, after all. Plus, per your noms de guerre you have excellent taste in gaming.

Cheers,

I tried sending some rubies to Arsene, but it appears that shadowy individual of mysterious and indistinct gender is Somewhere Else! Drop a note here or send a letter to me in London when you're back, and I'll send you them if I've still got the card by then.

Likewise, was unable to send anything to Arsene for the same reason.

I believe that I made an error with my naming, or at least my explaining said name. The character's name is "Arsene, Pillager of Twilight" exactly. I should figure out how to link the name like you fellows have. I believe there is another Arsene out there, who is unavailable, as my Arsene is "safely" expeditioning in the forgotten quarter. Also, he's a man.

I greatly appreciate you all for the attempted assistance! If you all need anything in return, feel free to request my assistance, you can count on it (please don't do anything that would unduly harm me, at least without warning.)

Stones dispatched, friend Chrona! It seemed to go through successfully. Here's hoping they were directed to the correct noble rogue.

Cheers,

Ah, a case of mistaken Arsenes. I have the correct Arsene as a contact now. Unfortunately I no longer have the card, but will send some jewels his way when I do.

I imagine that other Arsene is not available because they celebrated their victory over Chelsea last night a little too vigorously and are still recovering.

Aha, Arsene not being the Arsene we're looking for is rather fitting. Well, if you need more after the ones you've already received, do comment again. I still have the card, for now.

I do need just one more gift of gems...I didn't realize on had arrived already, since apparently, it is automatically added to your inventory, unlike every other gift. Thank you!

Thank you kind people! Now when I get an action (and actually get a tassled walking stick, I forgot I needed to buy one), I shall have the most bizarre, but calming, stick in the world!
