It makes sense in lore terms, since they're geographically adjacent and you can mosey on down there at the end of your terms as governor. If it would make something-or-another too profitable, then make it take a lot of actions for (insert reason here). But these sorts of linkages really help FL outside of London feel like a living, breathing world rather than a collection of random destinations.

That's not so--you can sign up for another term as governor without leaving.

Apologies for the prior misinformation. Still, perhaps one way of looking at the zee voyage is that there's a better point of disembarkment into the jungle if one boards one's ship for a spell?

I don't think that the tigers would like some human to trek across their territory, even if the human is welcome in the Court.

That said, the only reason that I could think of that you would want this is that you are using the governance carousel to grind Tribute.

If that is the case, that's a terrible way to grind Tribute, dude. The best ways are always at London, where you can get opportunity cards in order to get the stuff to grind Tribute faster than you would from governing Port Carnelian.

The most cost effective and profitable way to gain Tribute in London is via orphans, and you need nothing for that but cash.

As for Port Carnelian, I've seen claims that properly optimized the carousel there can give on average an EPA higher than 2. Adding some free Tribute at the end of the carousel should improve this greatly.

But I haven't run the math for PC myself.

Yeah, this option's Tribute per Echo and Tribute per Action ratings are some of the best, and it is a good way to get rid of the Winsome Dispossessed Orphan after you no longer need him for his card.

But man, doing this repeatedly? That's only for characters with surplus Echoes. My characters have just gotten the Cider, and they are a bit hurting in terms of liquid assets now.

If one doesn't have craploads of Echoes already, I suggest doing the Making a Masterpiece carousel, i.e. grind those ballets, just to get some moon-pearls to sell and getting some Making Waves to meet the weekly quota to avoid a Notability drop.

Oh yeah, now that gives me an idea of what to do when my characters have to go that dream Well.

I am going to dump half their money into giving orphans to tigers.

(I know, that just sounds so wrong when one doesn't know the context of that statement.)

I would not be against a way to travel from Port to Court simply myself.

I will accept all actions, though I hold the right to refuse for my own reasons. However, if you explain WHY you send me a harmful action like Loitering or Dantes,And I feel the reason good, I will consider it more. http://fallenlondon.storynexus.com/Profile/Kylestien

That's only true if you're thinking about it mechanically, which misses the joy of FL -- mechanically, FL is just a spreadsheet, and not a particularly interesting one. It's story and flavor that make the game memorable and immersive. This is why I specifically said, "if it would make some grind or another too good, feel free to make it take a ton of actions."

It is worth noting that one of the possible endings of your term is an audience with the Banded Prince. Thus, it seems sensible enough that, having gotten a way to go tiger-visiting repeatedly, you could do so straight from Port Carnelian. Except...

The game only allows you to visit Port Carnelian as governor, and governors can't go gallivanting off into the fungus like private persons. If Governor Kan or Governor Thursday goes to visit tigers, he does so as either a state visit or a violation of the Banded Prince's sovereignty. So, unless Port Carnelian gets changed to allow one to visit as private persons as well as government officials (which is probably highly unlikely), then it doesn't really make sense to allow you to travel from Carnelian to the Eye. (It might make more sense to allow you to travel from the Eye to Carnelian, but I suspect such an entry would have a profound effect on your term, perhaps raising Striped Delights and lowering Imperial Legitimacy and Silver Horseheads both.)

That doesn't completely prevent this idea - there could be an option to resign as governor but depart to tigerland instead of setting sail.

Would the tigers - and the Khanians - let outsiders skirt around the island without being accosted?

An option to leave Port Carnelian by way of the Court of the Wakeful Eye would make sense and be nice. It wouldn't be terribly convenient for most uses, but convenience is hardly the priority when one is either governing a fractious colony or visiting tigers in their home. It would be a kind of expanded audience with the Banded Prince at the end of a term: an audience with him on his home turf, followed by a trip home.

Well thought. I suspect that it might tank your Imperial Legitimacy, though; what is it going to look like if the governor disappears off into the neighboring territory? I'm sure the Khaganians would love it, too.
