I knew there was cross category conversion, and it was possible, but what I didn't know was how comprehensive it was. I needed lots of infernal brandy, and upconverting from souls I would have to purchase (or steal, but eh), would have been a pain. Luckily, after taking a quick stroll around google, I found the chart I'm going to post at the end of this message because I can't seem to make it a hyperlink into a word. Eh. But either way, I love that chart now! I got to convert enough to get enough brilliant souls, so I can get the brandy, so I can my flippin stones back! (I lost them in a chess match. 80%, twice. I wasn't happy. I don't even care if they aren't useful to me anymore, it's just infuriating that I lost them, and I want them back.)

I just had to post here that I really, really, like this chart.

Chrona Trigger: An academic adventurer, who is rather a large fan of masks, and is desperately curious about the many secrets of the neath. Except the one that isn't spoken of.

Arsene, Pillager of Twilight, The masked, magnanimous, and charming master thief, who will give and take as pleases him. Surprisingly steadfast for such a fickle fellow.

May I introduce you to the Conversion Helper browser extension?

You may, and I thank you! On the subject, is converting items a good method of getting MW? I need 4 more points to get my first point of notability, and I was just wondering.

It's a good method for a while (until you need massive amounts of MW at once).

Doing the full tier 3 conversion cycle will give you, on average, ~1.7 CP of MW per action.

If you can amass a lot of these items at the right item type which gives MW (e.g. Visions of the Surface), you can then do lots of such conversions one after the other, each giving you, on average, 5.5 CP of MW per action.

Excluding Tales of Terror because, as you said, they give an average of 4.5 MW/AP.

Correct.

Also, I've specifically mentioned Visions of the Surface because they are the best for this: Not only do they give 5.5 CP of MW per action, but the next MW-giving item (Incendiary Gossip) is just two conversions away (unlike 3 or 4 conversions needed for the other MW giving items).

The conversion helper extension is amazing. I can't even remember how I played Fallen London without it.

Hieronymus Drake: Gentleman scholar, big-game hunter, scar-faced aristocrat. Remarkably sane, all things considered.
Tanith Wyrmwood: Longshanks cat-burglar; Bohemian author; now, perhaps, something more. Bubbly, expressive, and affectionate. It’s not only still waters that run deep.
Telemachia Lee: Gentle lady by birth, brawling Docker by choice. Good company in the drunk tank.
