I'm guessing the fastest way (aside from buying it at the Bazaar) to accumulate the necessary Stolen Correspondence for the Personal Rec is to steal from the Duchess' chambers? There's no problem with this, I was just hoping to avoid doing it 2 more times (buying the remaining necessary SC at the Bazaar) because of the repetition. (For context, I have the 30 compromising docs, 4/6 Stolen Kisses, and 86/150 Intriguing Snippets.)

There is an Unfinished Business option in Spite that lets you get Stolen Correspondence quite readily.

I have said this to inexperienced players before, and I will say it again: do check the wiki! This page, in your case.

The wiki's really quite spoiler-free, and you don't have to waste time waiting for a response on the forums on gameplay matters that have already been around for years. I, for one, know that I had been checking the wiki for my first year in this game.

(Thanks to all the contributors to the wiki! Including myself!)

There are many factors so it's hard to pin down, but my rough estimate would be ~6-7 EPA.

When you leave depends on what you do to get your stats back up. If your regular actions (through cards and basic grind) net you ~45 CP in each stat a week, you can always get to 9 irrigo with no net loss. This is true of most people who play more than once per day.

Replenishing stats from 11 irrigo is harder, but doable. War of Assassins has options for most the stats, and is reasonably profitable if you're not already swimming in Collections.

I suggest only going to 10 or 11 irrigo if you draw one of the especially profitable cards for your last one, like End of Battles, An Unlikely Garden, or Woods in Winter. If your stat grinding is profitable enough you can get up there with less profitable cards even, like Losing.

But yeah, the most important things to keep in mind are to be satisfied having your stats sit at 199 and not 200, and to NOT deliberately get stats back up immediately. Only grind up stats you won't replenish naturally throughout the week, and use profitable methods of grinding instead of fast ones for when you do need to grind stats.

I also want to add a tip: the classic editor is a lot faster to work with, after one has figured out the syntax for the wiki's page source code.

The current editor is easier to understand and work with, but it loads its user interface and previews slowly, and on some days, completely borks.

P.S. The admins might grumble at you for using the classic editor though; the current editor makes a statement about any changes made mandatory, the classic one doesn't.

But that also doesn't wipe A Question, at least according to the wiki. Having not given up Seeking, I don't know anything to say otherwise.

Well, it should. Do keep in mind that the information that had been furnished there had been provided by another user, and not Failbetter staff who know about this. That user might not have set a question, and if that option does wipe out the question quality, it won't appear for the player at all.

I used it a few times. It doesn't take A Question or wounds at least.

OK, fair. But my question stands: does giving up the search for the name also wipe "A Question", or is that left intact (much as Weeping Scars, Stains on your Soul etc. are)?

Giving up the search now presumably wipes everything that you have obtained through Seeking.

By the way, the wiki entry for the option to end the search under a "Bad End" might not have been updated. It is supposed to wipe everything, like the entry for asking Mrs Plenty to free the player character does.

Using a Bad End definitely does not remove everything Mrs Plenty's option does. You will keep any Scars, Chains, or Stains you may have acquired. Scars can only be removed in Flute Street, Stains can only be removed in Flint, and Chains are permanent.

I just redicovered Flash Lays. As a Shepherd of Souls, I am often menace-free and the hard option seemed quite profitable to me. What do follower Londoners think?
It's a nice change of pace, but you have to have a lot of actions (like, Exceptional Friend-level actions) to spend in one go, and you need a reliable supply of second chances, the actions for which eat into the profitability for a bit.

What reliable methods are there to grind large amounts of Bottles of Greyfields 1882?

Also, what reliable methods are there to grind Cellars of Wine?
The best fully reliable option for the 1882 to my knowledge is Unfinished Business in Ladybones. Slightly less reliable (but more action efficient if not time efficient) is calling in Society favours at the Shuttered Palace.

Cellars of Wine are most easily obtained by converting up bottles of Broken Giant 1844, though that requires Church Favours. If you have a ship and are breeding monsters in the Labyrinth, giving the Bishop Hounds of Heaven also provides a few (along with some Broken Giant and Church favours), though that is a bit less efficient.

What happens to A Fine Piece after you become a Poet-Laureate? Do you get to keep anything leftover as a memento? Can you earn more if you keep writing works (only with no further way to spend it)?

With 24 BDR to what level should I raise the saloon quality to go from 6 notability to 12? I need to be sure I'm ready before I leave most of my earthly possessions to visit a certain island

A huge amount. Just going from 11 to 12 is going to require 1980 CP of Making Waves. Since you have to liquidate your possessions anyway, maybe invest all of that in rats and then use serial weddings to get your Notability up if that doesn't offend your sensibilities.

How would one raise heartless in a pinch? the changes to the quirk system are making this really hard.

If you're a spirifer you'll gain Heartless up to 15 by turning in souls to Hell's Fence. Otherwise there are a number of opportunity cards but nothing "in a pinch" springs to mind.

Signing in via an email and that email's google account creates different characters, both of which can be accessed by using the appropriate options on sign-in (the normal [name],[password], sign in for the email's account and the Google+ button for google's account.

(All of my alts are pretty much the same email but using all the different access options FBG gives)

If you want to get rid of "A Dream of Dark Waters" the easy way is to choose "Cry out." That will move you forward in Seeking, lock the card, and let you go about your business.

Nah. I'm only editing the source directly and have no problems with others doing the same (carefully, of course).

And I (try to) monitor all edits to the wiki, so no worries if mistakes are made - they are easy to fix.

My TtH comes tomorrow, my Noman has 69 Friend, and I want him to survive it just this once. Should I be worried? I can feed him some leftover taste of lacre, but I'd like to keep it for next year if possible.

Just the one you purchased it on. Unfortunate, but it makes sense.

Based on the last two years, the third week of Noman melting starts today (1/19 to 1/25), and has had an average Melt rate of ~50. The highest recorded loss of Noman's Friend during week three is 64. So, based on last year's data you'd be ok.

However... the melt rate is probably higher this year based on last week's data. 2018 week two highest level is ten points higher than 2017 week two highest level. I'd say that it could go as high as 75 this week. The average will probably be ~55-60. Up to you if you want to pump some ToL into it or chance it hoping to get something closer to the average.
