I've seen this before. It isn't anything recent.:27
This snippet seems new!:4
I dislike how so much information about Fallen London is 'in the know' until you actually read it yourself.:1

Literally a couple minutes ago, this snippet appeared on my sidebar:

What are the things under the City?

In no particular order, these are said to be: the first Four Cities; the Masters' summer homes; the hatcheries of the Rubbery Men; and a number of gigantic sleeping beasts which are drugged every year to prevent them awakening and destroying the Neath. These are sometimes referred to as the 'stone pigs', but that's probably some sort of mistranslation.

What.

I. Have. NEVER. Seen this snippet before, and I've been playing for three years at least!

This is so much lore! So much spoiler! So wow! Very amaze!

This is an OUTRAGE!... well, no. Not very anger-inducing... but It is something! I already know all of these things through my years of playing Fallen London AND Sunless Sea, only to have them casually mentioned in my peripheral vision years later! What?!

Yeah, that snippet's been around a while.

A lot of the sidebar snippets are like that, really - rumors about the Correspondence especially. Mostly nonsense, snippets adjacent to fact, and a grain of the truth.

Yeah pretty sure I've seen that before. Read about the sleeping creatures and put it down to fever dreams and misinformation for which Fallen London seems rife. Until of course I found out that the Stone Pigs actually are there and drugged and asleep and would destroy the Neath if they woke up. This revelation caused turbosnowy to briefly raise an eyebrow before turning to the sports section to check on the shroomhopping fixtures that afternoon. Always worth a flutter...

We need an Exceptional Story where we house-sit for The Masters.

Yes. ALL OF THEM. AT ONCE.

It's what they would do, right?

Well they live in the Bazaar, so it's only one house. Does an eldritch space crab need to be house-sat? Only time will tell.

Now that would be a strange baby-sitting job...
(Turns out 95% of the Lacre is the remains of the Bazaar's previous nannies.)

The winds are wild, the lacre deep, the snarling stones awake from sleep...

Cleaning up after one of the Masters' wild house parties would be...interesting. Kind of like working a party for Mr. Wines, but much more so.

That snippet's been around for ages. I remember it from the like five years ago.

Also, the second part of it - about the masters summer homes - is not supported by anything else yet and so could be false.

Social invitations of all kinds welcome, especially games of chess and deadly sparring!

Also happy to help with nightmares, send sips of Cider, and plant battle.
