Let me grumble about the fact that Wicked is unlocked only after you've played the "12 Days of Sackmas" storyline (ish). First of all, what if I don't wanna play? Secondly, given the fact that Noman's price changes as time goes on, that is highly unfair. I am still at day 9 on the character I /really/ need a Noman for, and it's bugging me quite a lot. I understand your second point, but not the first one:
What do you mean by "what if I don't wanna play"? Of course you're free to not play the game. You might as well resent the fact that you need to first increase Casing before doing Thefts in the Flit ("but what if I don't want to play the part of raising Casing"), or even resent hainv to play Mr Sacks's Day 3 card before playing the Day 4 card.
The Wicket is the culmination of the 12 days of Mr Sacks story. Play it, or don't. But it's weird to complain about having to play the first part of a story before playing the conclusion.

Other people have reported that Kingscale boots are not adding the relevant boosts. I'm sure that there have been bug reports but it might not hurt to let Failbetter know that this is a widespread problem

Sorry RL means I am not a very active player at the moment. No social actions unless you are prepared to wait and definitely no sparring or other mult-action things.
No Calling Cards or boxed cats please. Will take dupes on the affluent photographers. Other social invitations welcome. Parabolan Kittens usually available, send me an in-game social action saying you want one and I will get one to you as soon as possible.

Steadfast, subtle, and melancholy are all +3 CP quirks.
If you really want Steadfast, passing a set of 30 First City Coins gives you +1 CP. You can pass them back and forth up to 5 Steadfast. That's one action from two people to get you 1 CP of Steadfast, but it's doable.
Associating yourself with a different philsophy (from Life on Ladybones Road) can get you Magnanimous, Daring, or Subtle, each at 3 CP for 3 actions (at the cost of another quirk). Editing a book of meditations on the anchoress is also noteworthy for being fairly cheap (50 foxfire candle stubs, it lowers Scandal, and it gets you a net profit of 4.5E in assorted goods.
Large donations to the Soft-Hearted Widow also get you 3 CP of Steadfast, but that's not grindable.

I think most stuff should have already been patched some days ago. That being said, on workloads with a lot of IO access (such as database-heavy applications - like Fallen London), slowdowns from the patch will be heaviest. Combine this with the fact that FL never had the most robust and snappy setup (it frequently takes me 1-2 seconds to e.g. draw a card), and the current rush now that major seasonal limited-time content is available, and it might just have been enough to bring the game to its knees entirely.

I've heard the Noman can reduce your quirks - but can I realistically choose which ones, and keep intact the ones I value, or is that unrealistic (either because of randomness or because all quirks get lowered at once or something like that)? I have about 3-4 quirks at, or near, 15 that I'd loathe to drop (since most of them need a lot of echoes to build back up).

If you don't want to interact with the Masters for RP reasons, then I think that's the exact purpose of the "Mr Sacks, take my best regards!" option that's available on nearly every single day. 12 days still passes, but you get to grumpily watch from the sidelines and stay as uninvolved as you can. As for skipping the 12 days entirely? Well, from an in-universe perspective, Sacks is going around London, you can't well prevent him from doing that. Ignoring/dismissing him when he does come around is just about the best thing you can do, and luckily, the game gives you the option to do just that.

For me, it's because they're connected to Mr. Eaten (in a good way). I'm hazy on the details, but in the absence of strong reasons to do otherwise it's enough to make me like them. edited by Dudebro Pyro on 1/6/2018

There's something endearing about creatures that can speak only in gibberish and vague gestures. It leaves much of what they are saying up to the imagination, and also puts a lot more of the "dialogue" as detailed descriptions of various types of gibbering and gesturing. Beyond that, d__n if I know. Most likely it's along the same reasons why people like characters like Octodad.

All the other factions in the game have something sinister lurking within them. The rubberies alone stand as good natured and harmless. I don't know about their bosses, given I haven't played Flute Street yet, but still.
Plus they're adorable.

Skipping the details, what actual parts are you talking about? Flukes or is there anything else?
From what I've heard, it's the Flukes, yeah. And then the rubberies are mostly concerned with tending to their flukes, and might even be spawned from them or something along those lines. I don't actually remember anything more than that; it's just something I remember reading somewhere once.

Ok, here is my question. I just got to thinking to myself right now: "Would it not be a lot easier to stat cap if you got to say 5 notability, overcapped, then did that 2 more times?"
So I guess my question is: is there anything stopping people from overcapping bit by bit up to 15, or do you absolutely HAVE to do it all in one block?
When overcapping with Notability, the game sets your new stat to be 200 + your current Notability.
Try it once with Notability 5 and you'll get a base stat of 205. Try it again with Notability 3, and you'll get a base stat of 203.
So, yes, you need to spend all Notability at once.
(otherwise, it would have been trivial to get to 215 by getting 1 point of Notability 15 times).

depending on how much you would like to prepare for Notability events (like Hallowmass) you can stack Talk of Town during the year, use last option (personal recommendation) for 40 MW and, if possible, do a private acution on the Bazaar card with that recommendation and a box of curiosities. Affirming this, since it definitely got me an extra confession or two last Hallowmas.
They might do something different next year after all the backlash. But it's still a good idea to save talk of the town until you can use the making waves boost.

And, what card has the option? I'm looking over the wiki and not seeing cards in the State of Some Confusion that'd straightforwardly reset Nightmares in there. It looks like I was thinking of the Fate option to go to the Mirror-Marches. No easy escape then, I'm afraid.

If you're interested in Lore, then just wait for the Opportunity Card to come up. It comes up a lot (Frequency is more than Standard). Just a heads-up, you will have to sacrifice Quirks to do so.
