It usually melts around the end of January. It will be after Penstock's Wicket closes, and that will open after the 12 days of Mr Sacks.

This is my first Sacksmas, and I was wondering when Pails of Lacre melt? The warning in description is very alarming, and it's already January... Should I just hurry up and use my 3? Melting is brought by Time the Healer, beginning in late January. You will receive at least a week's worth of warning before the melting happens, again via Time the Healer.

Hi there, if I have my eye on a certain Lodging that's much easier around this time of year, but already have seven stains on my soul that keep me from getting my own infernal contract, is there any way to get a contract or should I resign myself to the 3200-CS grind?

You can sell your soul during hallowmas, at the cost of being mugged for (nearly) all your possessions if you ever enter the forgotten quarter again. Better idea is to play flint, which lets you remove the stains.

Cool, thanks. I don't know much about what Lacre is supposed to do/how to use it, but I have gotten the distinct impression that it's important. Glad to know I don't have anything to worry about for a while!

Thanks! Since I'm already at 2800/3200 I think it may be better for me to just finish up and buy the lodging the old-fashioned way, especially since I hate being locked out of places and I'm liable to forget (also I don't want to wait until Hallowas, haha)

I have a Noman! Yay! What on earth do I do with it?
(I have 1 pail of snow, 1 ToL, and none of the special expensive items like Tears of the Bazaar that people mention. I'm more interested in lore than items, and I'd rather not do anything really mean to it.) edited by evapillar on 1/5/2018

If you're interested in Lore, then just wait for the Opportunity Card to come up. It comes up a lot (Frequency is more than Standard). Just a heads-up, you will have to sacrifice Quirks to do so.

I'm hitting SMEN 21 tomorrow. Out of all SMEN-related qualities, I only have 1 scar; no chains, no stains, no candles, no no-candles. If someone sends me a card (is it even possible?), can I go to the isle and get the Salt question?

Why so many players are obsessed with Rubberies? I mean yes, they are cute, but I've seen phrases like "why %do anything non-rubbery% while you may %do something rubbery%" hundred times! edited by curtistruffle on 1/6/2018

For me, it's because they're connected to Mr. Eaten (in a good way). I'm hazy on the details, but in the absence of strong reasons to do otherwise it's enough to make me like them. edited by Dudebro Pyro on 1/6/2018

There's something endearing about creatures that can speak only in gibberish and vague gestures. It leaves much of what they are saying up to the imagination, and also puts a lot more of the "dialogue" as detailed descriptions of various types of gibbering and gesturing. Beyond that, d__n if I know. Most likely it's along the same reasons why people like characters like Octodad.

The advent calendar, specifically the item unlocked on the 24th, increased taste of lacre by 1. This put me at level 6. I recall with certainty that it was exactly level 6 because I was annoyed that I could no longer use my monocle to gain ToL.
Today, after finishing the 12 days of Mr Sacks, and before playing any of the options in the "Penstock's Wicket" storylet, I was at ToL level FOUR.
Don't the twelve days INCREASE taste of lacre? How could I have possibly lost two levels since christmas?

All the other factions in the game have something sinister lurking within them. The rubberies alone stand as good natured and harmless. I don't know about their bosses, given I haven't played Flute Street yet, but still.
Plus they're adorable.
