I am planning something Extremely Unwise, and would like to know whether either the Mirror-Marches or the Royal Bethlehem Hotel have the Fate-locked option to reset Nightmares and where that option might be hidden.

For Paramount Presence--a thread says you need 50 Liberation of the Night for Dangerous, but the wiki says 40. Does anyone know which is correct?

The Royal Beth option has a card with an option while the Mirror-Marches has neither, iirc. What Unwise Thing are you considering? If it's a certain foolish Home Comfort, note that getting it doesn't send you directly to the menace areas - you can dodge them by equipping certain equipment and instantly using menace-reducing storylets.

Regarding the Heart's Desire ambition:
What are the consequences of the various payments you can offer the Manager? I'm thinking of giving him my key, will I be able to acquire another or will it be forever lost? I'm loath to lose dreams, so I could just give them brass but that seems sort of crude.

Buttons won't work, and while Dreams do the job it's easier to give him the key - you can get a replacement key later.
You can get another key, and they're only used in ambitions anyway.

Ok, here is my question. I just got to thinking to myself right now: "Would it not be a lot easier to stat cap if you got to say 5 notability, overcapped, then did that 2 more times?"

So I guess my question is: is there anything stopping people from overcapping bit by bit up to 15, or do you absolutely HAVE to do it all in one block?

I will accept all actions, though I hold the right to refuse for my own reasons. However, if you explain WHY you send me a harmful action like Loitering or Dantes,And I feel the reason good, I will consider it more. http://fallenlondon.storynexus.com/Profile/Kylestien

When overcapping with Notability, the game sets your new stat to be 200 + your current Notability.

Try it once with Notability 5 and you'll get a base stat of 205.
Try it again with Notability 3, and you'll get a base stat of 203.

So, yes, you need to spend all Notability at once.

(otherwise, it would have been trivial to get to 215 by getting 1 point of Notability 15 times).

Ok, I guess then my next question is what is the absolute best way to get 15 notability? i tried side converting but it looks like unless you have really good BDR getting there will be hell by doing that.

There are lots of tips, and most are in this excellent guide.

Every point of BDR really helps. For the large MW bursts you need for the higher Notability points, the best options are the 4-card lodgings MW boosts and, of course, a Salon/Orphanage.

Raising Notability very high requires some pre-planning. If you spend a while just increasing your Salon Scheme, you'll have plenty stored up for huge MW boosts later.

With a BDR of 25-28 it's easy to hit 8-9 without much fuss, but with some preparations. After that, you may find a willing partner for a zee-wedding (25k rats I think) and just get those done multiple times to get to 15.
If you are a vet player, you can get many personal recommendations from Polite Invitation card which gives a nice MW boost and there are multiple sources of diamonds (expeditions, cryptic clues conversion at the Bazaar, Implausible Penance card, etc). It all leaves some rats to throw for preparations and you (and your partner) gain 1 Notability. Go with the AP expensive action for divorce (which is really the cheapest) and repeat!

EDIT: depending on how much you would like to prepare for Notability events (like Hallowmass) you can stack Talk of Town during the year, use last option (personal recommendation) for 40 MW and, if possible, do a private acution on the Bazaar card with that recommendation and a box of curiosities.

Achievement list if you're feeling bored!
I am accepting Plant battles, Neath's Mysteries card, Starveling Cats and boxed cats.
No suppers, no second chances gain and no need to cure my menaces!

Affirming this, since it definitely got me an extra confession or two last Hallowmas.

They might do something different next year after all the backlash. But it's still a good idea to save talk of the town until you can use the making waves boost.

The very Unwise Thing is not related to Home Comforts, and will make itself known when it happens.

And, what card has the option? I'm looking over the wiki and not seeing cards in the State of Some Confusion that'd straightforwardly reset Nightmares in there.

This is my first Sacksmas, and I was wondering when Pails of Lacre melt? The warning in description is very alarming, and it's already January... Should I just hurry up and use my 3?
