Proteges and switching POSI specializations

A (hopefully) quick question: does removing my POSI specialization via 'A Reputation of Some Importance - Another Way' (either Fate or non-Fate) remove my proteges as well? Or do I get to keep the darlings, and just be unable to teach them until I re-specialize?
