It’s Christmastime in the Neath—even the rats’ eyes have a certain festive glow. We have plenty in store for those festively inclined, beginning today with our delicious Advent Calendar, along with the release of this year’s Christmas cards.

ADVENT CALENDAR
Each day from today through Christmas, visiting the Advent Calendar from midday will reward you with something distinctly festive and gift-like.

Due to access code restrictions on mobile, it’s important to note that the Advent Calendar is only accessible through browser. Each day when you visit the calendar, click once to open the door for that day, and then click again to receive your prize!

Follow us on the channel of your choice (Twitter, Tumblr or Facebook) for reminders of when each gift is released! And be quick, each gift will only be available for a few days once they’re announced!

CHRISTMAS CARDS
Let your loved ones and enemies know you’re thinking of them this Christmas: yuletide cards are available starting today til the end of the month!

Your stock of cards will be replenished weekly by Time, the Healer. Find them in your Lodgings, under Send a Christmas Card. Keep an eye out for this year’s festive Feducci card!

(You don’t need to be acquaintances to exchange Christmas cards, unless you intend to arrange for the Bazaar or the Mayor to send a Christmas card on your behalf when they become available.)

Find new players to exchange cards with here, on the Fallen London subreddit, Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr. Use #flcards to show your interest!

EXCEPTIONALLY FESTIVE MERCHANDISE
The Fallen London store is now bursting with clothes, accessories and gift ideas for you and your delicious friends!

Featured is the Mr Sacks range, guaranteed to attract second glances, questions at your festive parties (is that Father Christmas? Where are his eyes?), and perhaps a few nightmares this holiday season!

Be certain to order your gifts with plenty of time for shipping! Here are Spreadshirt’s US and UK cutoff dates.

MORE TO FOLLOW
There's plenty more festivities to come later in the month. Be on the lookout for further announcements! Also, those invested in the Finishing School may want to check in on their pupils..

lol I love how I dashed off to open the first door on the FL Advent calendar right away this morning, forgetting about my actual advent calendar with actual chocolates inside.

I've got my priorities straight :P

Ooh, what do we have here?

Mr. Sacks, take this Easter egg! (Christmas egg?)

I know I'm probably really late to the party...

Delicious friends!

The Twelve Days of Mr Sacks have begun! Each day for the next twelve days a new card will appear in your opportunity deck, containing festive encounters, delightful presents and seasonal stories!

You don't have to check in every day - as long as you've played "Day 1: A Peevish Visit from Mr Sacks?" before mid-January you'll have until February to play through the sequence.

Season's salutations, one and all!

Eh, it looks like they may have agreed to exchange the 100 fate cards, so the other person not holding up their end of the bargain would probably be a legit gripe. Still should be settled via private messages though.

Notably, you won't get any cards from Time the Healer until the 4th. This is to make it so everyone gets the same amount of cards.

So, you need not worry about spending them immediately.

Polite society is going to laaaaaaaaugh... The caste, that is, not the forum user. Although that's not to say they won't laugh too.

But sure, what could possibly go wrong? Well, everything. But apart from that! This Rubbery is going to get his Sacksmas wish or I'll die horribly and atrociously trying! Allon-sy!

Interestingly, I'm pretty sure the description for the Rubbery Friend is the first time that "Sacksmas" has ever been mentioned in-game - it's usually Christmas! I was under the impression that the name Sacksmas was a community invention.

EDIT: And, whoops! The description text has been changed from "Sacksmas jumper" to "Christmas jumper". Alack alas.

A very merry Sacksmas to all. All shall be well, all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Sidenote: The First Day of Mr Sacks is already available as a pinned storylet for me. It is supposed to be an opportunity card, right?

Some of the options during the 12 days of mr sacks gives taste of lacre. But only one gives buckets of so-called-snow, which is what clearing your lodging gives.

In your Lodgings under Write Letters you can force the gift-giving card for 1 Fate. You can also send 30 First City Coins (assuming you have that many) by clicking on them in your Inventory. Other things you can send, depending on circumstances/possessions include Parabolan Kittens, Starveling Cats, (What may be) Boxed Cats, Eyeless Skulls, and Sips of Cider. In lieu of gifts you can also send helpful actions like Wound healing, etc. Likely other options are available that I have failed to mention.

As anyone tried sending cards to people on “THE CHRISTMAS CARD LIST”?
I just tried sending one to the one name you’re shown when the list is revealed (during Bag a Legend), and it seems to have gone out. I put “April” as the message body.
I don’t know if a player set their name as that of a specific NPC, if the system lets you send cards to nonexistent addresses, or if I found something cool.

EDIT: I may have just sent it to the first person in my contacts. Which wouldn’t be anywhere near as cool.

Oh my, yes, dear! Our annual Sacksmas celebration extends through the end of the calendar year. (I believe this year until Jan 4th?). Plenty of time to enjoy more of the festive Neathy revelry!

Edit: My apologies. As Kaijyuu and Sara have pointed out, there are no more batches of free cards with Time the Healer. You can still buy them for Fate if you chose to though.

If you've got an issue with a specific other player, it's best to deal with that player directly, in-game or via PM.

As to why someone might not have sent you a card back, well, he could've run out of cards and be waiting for Time the Healer. He could have gotten ill. He could've passed through a mysterious gate in the NORTH. He could even have simply forgotten. The possibilities are endless as Mr. Pages's vocabulary.

Thanks, but patience? Oh, no. I resorted to a lot of wiki-referring, and I know a few exploits to accelerate the grind, most of which had been closed by Failbetter, or just rendered obsolete.

Oh yeah, they are all Seeking now - had been for a while, but unfortunately not in time for Christmas to betray a whole bunch of Noman.

EDIT: Oh wait, did I say "less than four years?". Checking back on some message and email archives, I actually started playing back in 2015, so it's less than 3 years.

From skimming through the thread, I take it that we don't know when buckets will melt or when the Wicket will become permanently closed this year. Am I correct in that, or mistaken? I ask because I'm hoping to wait on making my Noman so as to skip out on unnecessary Friend loss, and I can't do anything else I want to in the Wicket until I can dump off my current ToL on my Noman buddy.

    Oh, yeah... Whoops.

I keep mixing up the ToL increases with the day periods. It should be ToL +2 after every three days right?

Also, likely due to the lag and requests by players like me, the first cost phase has been extended to four days (last Friday, Saturday, Sunday and most of Monday). I recall that my characters purchased Noman at a cost of ToL 5 from Tuesday onwards.

The cards never lock. The wicket, however, locks after Jan 31st. So, you still have all of January left to complete your Sacksmas business wink

And yes, the RNG seems particularly hateful atm. I've trouble drawing those Sacks cards, too. 'Ubiquitous frequency' haha :P

As far as I can tell, the Silas option is not necessary at all to be able to play the Day 12 option - it certainly didn't effect any qualities beyond a +1 to Experiencing Strange Times. It's basically a waste of Day 8.

EDIT: I say waste, uncharitably. The text was worth it in my book!

It won't change over time on its own, it changes based on your Airs of London quality, which you can change by doing various actions that use it (e.g. some of the Working for the Widow actions in Spite). So you may well change it accidentally merely with ordinary gameplay. But it does mean that if you want a to send a different card you can try to change it by doing these actions, but you are at the mercy of the RNG and can't guarantee what you'll get.

Worthwhile addendum: Sending cards itself changes the Airs of London, so even if you scrupulously hang onto a certain card until you send it, you'll never be guaranteed more than one in a go (although the RNG can be merciful, and it's not like it's got more than four options).

Soothe & Cooper Long-Boxes can be profitably sold at the Bazaar and/or you can turn your Noman into an Elemental Secret.

I have a question about Christmas cards. Does TtH *add* 7 cards, or does it simply *set* it to 7? I just got cards from Advent, and my TtH is only a few hours away. Do I need to rush if I want to use them all, or will I simply have more than 7 by morning?

Should just be the usual hard cap of Notability 15.

The guide to Notability says the cap is 8 from the special card. I'd like to know for sure before spending that much on fate.

I haven't heard of a cap, but if someone else has more specific details, they're probably right.
