Bug reported by newbie: loitering hangs up

Bug? cannot respond to "patience rewarded" after contact goes somewhere else ----------------------------------- I am usually hesitant to report bugs when I'm new to a game but impatience overwhelmed discretion and I filed this already. I thought it makes sense to post it here to solicit opinions and insight of my betters before I consider following up.
User name: Artisinal Painstress, I invited HarryP22h to join me in loitering. After he accepted I received notice:
> HarryP22h joined your watch. They were remarkably patient over the many, many, many hours that passed until you saw what you needed to see. > following this was his comment that he intended to go sailing as soon as this task was complete.
That message contains a "Respond" button which I clicked and was presented a reward notice > Patience Rewarded > There! That was what you were waiting for. You can use this information profitably. > Whatever reward you pick, your ally will also receive.
However choosing any of these rewards requires me to invite a contact again... Since HarryP22h is "Somewhere Else" I cannot invite him, I cannot choose a reward, and the message cannot be responded to. This strikes me as a bug because if HarryP22h never returns to the game I will never be able to complete this reward and cannot remove it from my message area. I would like to be able to simply accept the reward regardless of whether he is present. Failing that I would like to be able to eventually give up the reward if necessary in order to cancel the message.
Thanks for your excellent game!!

Your bug report seems fine, but I think this is more of a failure of design rather than a bug.

Sailing takes a character away from London. As soon as they return you will be able to complete your loitering.

Sorry RL means I am not a very active player at the moment. No social actions unless you are prepared to wait and definitely no sparring or other mult-action things.
No Calling Cards or boxed cats please. Will take dupes on the affluent photographers. Other social invitations welcome. Parabolan Kittens usually available, send me an in-game social action saying you want one and I will get one to you as soon as possible.

That's a built-in design implication of the new multi-action social actions.
It's even worse for mutually exclusive choices - e.g. you can only be engaged in a Chess match or a Sparring Bout with one person at a time. Until you both complete the multi-action activity you can do this with another player.

Want a sip of Hesperidean Cider? Send me a request in-game. Here's an_ocelot's guide how. (Most social actions are welcome. Please no requests to Loiter Suspiciously and no investigations of the Affluent Photographer)

It could be any number of other things. Zailing, for instance, or things I do not want to spoil a new player about.
