Getting kicked out of the university, or more specifically advancing past the investigation stage, locks you out of what is probably the most profitable grind in London, just so you know. And the first stage, before investigations, has one of the easiest reliable ways to raise your Hedonist to 15. Isn't finishing the University plotline a prerequisite for Flute Street, though?

Yes. I haven't been there, so I can't say for certain, but my understanding is that from an echo perspective it's unimpressive, from a lore perspective it's a lot of fun, and I have no knowledge one way or another about hedonism.
Well, no. That's not quite true. I know it's the only way to acquire certain... enhancement. Which, regardless of its effect on Hedonism, demonstrates a great deal of hedonism.

More of a random thought than anything, but what if 'all will be well' should actually be 'all will be Well?'

(Now that said, didn't Eliot use that quote in one of his Quartets? Given the degree that Fallen London has trawled Eliot for quotes, it's entirely possible that that is the path by which the saying made its way into the game. Not that that means much; the in-game uses of such quotations [e.g. the dream qualities] are fairly independent of their origins.)

Anyone know what the watchful cutoffs are for getting different numbers of Searing Enigmas from manufacturing searing enigmas in the university?
I have 299 watchful right now, but won't get to 300 for a very long time via redoing the overcap... trying to decide whether to hold off on going for the impossible theorem until I do that, or whether to just do it now.

Social invitations of all kinds welcome, especially games of chess and deadly sparring!
Also happy to help with nightmares, send sips of Cider, and plant battle.

I still have two of these lingering multi-step social actions invitations that can be neither refused nor accepted. Anyone else still experiences this problem? I'm not sure if fbg is still fixing this so I should just patiently wait for the invitations to disappear, or assume they finished fixing the general problem and just overlooked these?

Either way, it's probably best to contact support just in case.

Actually, now that I think more about it, I'm asking the wrong question, so I can answer my own question... I'm pretty sure that now, the most efficient way to convert uncanny incunabulums into Searing Enigmas is to sell them, buy Winsome Dispossessed Orphans, feed them to the tigers for tribute, and then have tea with the minister of enigmas. That process converts 25 uncanny incunabulums into roughly 6 enigmas, if I've done my math right - 25 incunabulums has value 312.5, which buys 4.8 orphans, which at 25 tribute each give about 120 total tribute, which gives six enigmas. This is at the cost of a few actions, and averaged over a large number of orphans, but overall this is a better deal than the luck of manufacturing enigmas. If I bunch up the tribute so that I only need one zee-voyage there and back (and pick up a plated seal on the way), the trips aren't a big deal. edited by Amalgamate on 11/24/2017 edited by Amalgamate on 11/24/2017

Trying to ask in this thread as it's more active: I was wondering if someone who played the Invite your spouse to join you in sampling Prisoner's Honey Fate option happens to remember the result. I'm mostly interested in quirk chances as I'm a bit picky about the ones that I have! Cheers and have a nice weekend!

If I am recalling correctly there are no quirk changes there. Menace cures, MW, memories of light and romantic items. I think. But you may wish to wait till someone with a fresher memory confirms.

Is it possible to change your ship? I.e., can I pick the Rusty Tramp Steamer now so that I can zail as soon as possible, and then switch it out for one of the expensive ships later? Would doing to cost Fate?

You can change your ship at any time - you have to dispose of your current one, but it doesn't cost you any fate.

Would doing to cost Fate? To add to the already excellent reply you've been given: Do some homework now regarding the ship you'd prefer, so that you can stock up on the resources you'll need when you've got nothing else pressing. Getting the whirring contraptions necessary for a Zubmarine, for example, is a long and boring process--if you're doing nothing else. If, however, you pick up a contraption at a time in between other projects, it will put you far ahead when the time comes to switch, and make the whole process more palatable.
