From what I can tell, it's:
- 0->1: 4 x favours
- 1->2: 6 x favours
- 2->3: 9 x favours
- 3->4: 13 x favours
- 4->5: 17 x favours
- 5->6: ?
- 6->7: 27 x favours
- 7->8: 34 x favours (locked)
I wonder if the numbers are arbitrary or if there's a formula here.
5->6 requires 22 Favours, but... I don't suppose that's all too helpful, as the numbers are still odd regardless, haha. Not including the locked 8th option, the total amount of Favours required to earn all 7 certificates is 99; all I can think of is maybe the devs wanted the total cost to be 99 specifically for some reason? ...though that also makes me wonder, why not just a round 100? :P

So, with those requirements, someone needs 158 Feducci's favours to get get both the title to level 7 and the lance which is at least 26 of the new confessions and one from last week!
Gotta hate the part when I'll have to choose between title, companions and lance; only 20 more confessions to get every I want!

I really hate how limited Confessions are this year. The change to making them cost 8 Notability, combined with the insane costs for the Feducci content, is just terrible. I want doing 100% of seasonal events to be extremely difficult, not completely impossible without paying vast quantities of real money. Between Exceptional Friendship, Sunless Seas, and Sunless Skies, Failbetter surely doesn’t need to resort to this sort of nickel-and-diming.
I’m confident this was merely a balancing mistake, rather than actively malicious, but still. I gladly pay to support the amazing writing, but this just leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

It is possible. Just optimize all you possibly can, and it is possible.
Currently I have 2 Barrister, 3 Cheery Man's, 3 His Amused Lordship.
I miss 3 companions, which will require 7 confessions overall.
Feducci Lance will require 10 w2 confessions, so 9 more confessions, which is doable. With friends' help, obviously, but still.
And sure, it IS hard, really it is. Basically, almost every action except maybe card-based Favours/Renown grinding, is sent to this task.
