The model is eventually a spouse candidate, so even if you're disinterested in marrying her you'll be able to free yourself of the card.

Here specifically, once you're POSI, you'll get an opportunity to court her. Starting that courtship will remove her card from your deck. And if you do want to keep pursuing her as an eventual suppose, that progresses via pinned storylet, not cards.
(If you do Marry her eventually, you'll get a new card, but this time a very profitable one).

And you can do the same with the Jewel thief; just start the story from the card and don't throw him away. Or just throw him away if you wish, but you won't be able to get him back!

I've been working in the Flit. How do I get Embroiled in the Wars of Illusion? It still hasn't shown up no matter how high my Seeking and Investigating go...

You only get it on a rare success on the cash-in options. You just have to keep trying till you get it. Took me ages.

It is quite luck-based, but some options are extremely profitable. The upgrades themselves vary based on equipment, but you can upgrade up tp the most shadowy boots in the slot. I would advise using the wiki to know what cards to use and which equipment to bring.

The strange-shore clothings are also the shadowy best-in-slot for those of us who are above wearing ratskin. You're above wearing ratskin, aren't you?
The irrigo goggles (luminous goggles upgraded via A Weakness in the Air) are no better than an Exceptional Hat, and are outclassed by the top-of-the-line watchful hats at the Bazaar. I'm a midnighter, so I picked up the goggles regardless; they're a perfect match for my strange-shore parabola suit and my shrine and seal of St Joshua.
The Forgotten Spidersilk Slippers (via An Altarful of Strangers) are outclassed only by the Renown: Constables 40 item, but you may want to consider skipping them anyways. They're made of spider silk, collected from live spiders. The spiders down here are not especially friendly, to say the least. I'll only wear something which was made using a spider if it was made using a dead spider, like these chitinous gauntlets of mine. Protect your feet with a good pair of kingscale boots, to show those slithery interlopers that we mean business!
Last but not least, a nodule of warm amber can be turned into a nodule of violet amber via An Altarful of Strangers. It only gives persuasive +3, but its mouseover text is the "do you recall" poem, and I appreciate having that text easily accessible in my weapons list. edited by Anchovies on 10/27/2017

Clicked on the storylet to remove my profession completely by accident; lost my status as an Author in the space of a breath. Is there a quick way to undo it, or should I trudge my way back uphill?

The only other way to get a Location is by grinding up 3200 scraps, which takes a really long time since it's entirely card-based. So the question is, would you rather have money now or have a rare item without needing to grind later?
My main, being a very Watchful type, found the Nadir early in his career and I was delighted by the chance to sell it and get all the best gear from the Bazaar. But if you're planning on ever going for London's Viscera, you probably ought to keep it. There's a route to London's Marrow that requires all the top-tier Relicker items. There's also a route to London's Blood which requires all the top-tier Lodgings, and the upgraded Bazaar and New Bethlehem items require items which are obtainable by normal means (albeit with some difficulty).

On top of what was already mentioned (and it should be noted that even when not Best In Slot, if it's easier to get a Nadir item def go for it for now), the Nadir can also be mega profitable for echo grinding, provided you go in with some second chances (3 minimum of one type, don't go for Hastily Scrawled Notes iirc), some high dream qualities, and/or have a tattoo. And even without that all you can leave with a worthwhile sum if youre lucky. Once you're goat farming or cider brewing it becomes a nice weekly break up of the regular grind.

What's the best Dangerous grind for a high-level player? My other three stats are all at or above 200 without modifiers, but my Dangerous is still languishing at a measly 152.
I like grinds best that grant something in addition to the desired quality - i.e. I liked to grind Shadowy using Affair of the Box, because I got a monetary benefit as well, and I used the MW/Notability grind to build up my Persuasive. Any suggestions?

It takes longer than lethal sparrings, but I grinded Dangerous to 200 by repeatedly doing War of Assassins and choosing the dangerous options as often as possible. Besides Dangerous, you gain the reward at the end of each round.

War of Assassins is also one of the most highly-profitable, albeit card-based, London grinds (though Collections of Curiosities which you then trade to Tomb-Colonists). So if you intend to keep playing for a while, even if you don't draw the tomb-colonist card too often if you stockpile a bunch of Collections you'll eventually end up trading them in, for a nice - if slightly delayed - profit. Not like there's inflation, though.

Whenever the Nadir takes Dangerous away, I cash revolutionary favors to get it back. It helps. Velocipede Squad, War of Assassins and Mr Inch are the other choices.

And my own question: I do want to go for the fancy new grind, Paramount Presence. However, even if I eventually drive all my stats to 215, the Nadir and other situations might still hurt them. Is there a plan to let you keep the new cap, even if you still lose stats? In the absence of that, is there any other benefit to Paramount Presence other than bragging rights?

This week, my Time the Healer has been a bit late. Twelve hours late, and it's been that way for at least a short while. Can anybody offer any insight as to why that might be?
Also, to answer Jolanda's question, so far as I know, there's no way to lock yourself at 215 for a stat. And, furthermore, I don't believe Paramount Presence actually does anything the other PoSI specializations don't -- in fact there's an option for flirting with Slowcake's Amaneusis that's only available to Legendary Charismas, and not Paramount Presences.
