I believe the best way is to use thefts of particular character in the Flit to steal Journals of Infamy and then convert them into plaques.

Peggy the Nowoman lived to see the Feast. Thank you for the memories, Snow Lady.
I'm happy to accept most social actions except for lethal sparring and loitering suspiciously. Please challenge my plant! Currently not accepting calling cards.

If you don't mind getting them slowly, affair of the box gives a few per cycle, and gives a reasonably high rate of return overall.
If you want them fast, side conversions. It's easy to gain a mountain of 50 pence items from normal gameplay. And if you lack those, you can get Journals of Infamy from the previous poster's suggestion. edited by Kaijyuu on 10/23/2017

Does anyone know the requirements for the Polite Invitation? I've been a PoSI for weeks and it still hasn't turned up once. Do I need to draw cards somewhere or have Making Your Name at a certain level?

Want a sip of Hesperidean Cider? Send me a request in-game. Here's an_ocelot's guide how. (Most social actions are welcome. Please no requests to Loiter Suspiciously and no investigations of the Affluent Photographer)

When it does, be sure to have a bottle of broken giant (to exchange for two Hell favors as a first action) and no more than six favors: society, as it will give you one at the end. You can also take your chances to acquire docks and rubbery men at various stages.

So are you considered to be on the Masters' side by default in the Affair of the Box? The very first option I clicked on in the carousel at the first time of doing it (something about helping a trade unionist) led to me gaining an immediate point of Turncoat. I have yet to click on a pro-Masters option, I haven't switched sides once.
To my knowledge I never pledged my allegiance to those bastards and I feel rather slighted that someone thinks I did. Yeah, I went to one of their parties once, but that's about it. Certainly never signed up for anything. At least I don't remember doing so.

IIRC, you get a storylet asking you who's to blame for the entire Box affair, and you have two options: "It's the people's fault" (Pro-master option), or "It's the Masters' fault" (Pro-revolutionaries option). That sets you up for the rest of the carousel.

Curious, I don't recall that happening. And there's no way I would have sided with them at that point, either. How very odd.
I suppose it is possible I clicked on the wrong option by mistake or misreading, but as I said, I don't even remember that one coming up (and it was only yesterday).
