With Light Fingers being updated tomorrow I find I need to get the content boundary dealt with now, with The List. How is best to obtain the Aeolian Screams? And is it best to breed the seal via a firm hand for the puzzle damask?

I'm not sure it's strictly optimal, but Unfinished Business in Ladybones Road lets you Debate the Nature of Primordial Shrieks. There's a 10% chance of getting an Aeolian Scream. If you don't, you get 50 Primordial Shrieks, which can in turn be converted into Maniac's Prayers with again a 10% chance (probably) of giving you a scream too.
Two actions for a 19% chance at an Aeolian Scream isn't bad, and Maniac's Prayers are useful here and there and otherwise in scant supply.

How do you get nodules of trembling amber other than expeditions? It says I can get it from "certain unorthodox transactions with Rubbery Men", is this on the rubbery men card or what?

There's also an option in the Nadir. Bring Identities Uncovered.
In short... no good options. Right now I'm very glad I've been using that heretofore-pointless option in the Nadir, even though a miserly voice in my head kept reminding me it's echo-neutral. Players who are less fortunate (i.e. more sane) are going to have to make hard choices about how much they're willing to sacrifice for the sake of making the clearly more awesome choice.

You can also get Trembling Amber from the Rubbery Consort card, but that's obviously not for everyone.

I would just run expeditions for Trembling Amber - Thieves' Cache if you can. I get it decently often even for Blue Heaven expeditions.

That's what I've been doing with my actions, though I'm saving my criminal favors to get a zeppelin. Speaking of criminal favors, is there any reliable way to get them other than the criminal faction card?

But if you include the Criminals cards, then there are tons of other cards as well. The Henchman and Accomplice companions have opportunity cards (although the two together have a conflict card), as does the Gang of Hoodlums. And your acquaintance the Repentant Forger. Plus a 50/50 chance from the Smokey Flophouse card, if Jack is still about. And the other, more mundane type of airship theft, if your Renown is above 20.

Technically better suited to the other subforum, but short enough to not deserve a thread:
The DF. I feel like that's supposed to be a reference to real literature but can't for the life of me discern what, anyone with any idea on it? I'm not super well versed on late 19th century British literature, though I'm steadily aiming to fix that.

I did a few months ago. Don't think there's been any changes in those mechanics since. Probably RNG hate.

"Your crowd of admirers" via Unfinished Business in Veilgarden provides 100-1000 greyfields 1879 for 5 actions.
"A discount for purchase in bulk" via the "Mr Wines is holding a sale!" card trades 80 romantic notions for 750 greyfields 1879. Selling the notions at the Bazaar would provide £8.00, enough to purchase 400 greyfields 1879, so this is a pretty good deal if you can spare the notions.

The bulk purchase from Mr. Wines is likely the most efficient as to my knowledge there aren't any profitable sources of the stuff.
