Steam Gift?

When I redeemed my tier 3 KS key on steam, it gave me a gift called "Sunless Skies tier 3 KS Gift" along with adding the game to my library.
Now, I am curious as to what this is. Is this another copy of the game? I don't think it's the second copy I paid for because I haven't even used/given that key out yet.
