Well, now that the Church's connection system has finally been converted to the favours and renown system, it is as good a time as any to dicuss the best ways to obtain and trade favours and renown.

Speaking of which, is there or will there be a way to gain renown without having to spread god's editors edits? Like, say helping to transport a shipment of candles to Saint Fiacre? Or playing spotter during the Bishop of Southwark's weightlifting sessions?

Breeding a hound of heaven and handing it to the Bishop is the only non-card based way to gain favors, afaik. It's not particularly efficient though.

There's also the Mark of Credit Page turnin, which will give a Church favor along with some others.

"A Day at the Races" opportunity card that pops up all too often has an option to maybe get a favor. It's a 50/50 shot.

There's the connected pet too of course.

There's also this card if you don't mind hanging out in Spite.

From 6-8 I believe it's impossible to raise renown except by distributing edits. Before that of course you can use the carnival. But to get to the next tier, the only options are the ones on the Jeweled Reliquary.

I've actually been doing the hound of heaven grind, and it's not too bad. 3 favors and 3 cellars of wine for ~50 actions (I think) isn't great, but none of the favor grinds are.

McGunn/Bsymstad is on the slow boat, waiting to see if he can find out what death is. (I'm done with London for now. Thanks for everything!)
Amanda Albright is a *spoiler* now, like she always wanted.

I think the hound takes about 40 actions (4-5 to get 10 troubled waters, 1 for fishing, 5-10 to get back to London, 23 for breeding and cashing in), and is the most efficient known favour grind for any single faction. The Mark of Credit grind is more efficient per total favours (by 1-2 fewer actions per favour), but gives assorted favours with only 1 favour per faction.

Along with the Hound of Heaven and Counting the Days grinds, there's also the Shepherd of Souls card. Some 35-40 actions' worth of souls and contracts via Unfinished Business can be cashed in for between 9 and 15 favors, split between Church, Constables, and Society. The standard-frequency card isn't available on demand, but it's always possible to build up supplies ahead of time.
