It's a longterm goal you passively work towards as you play the game. Takes a while, but you'll get there.

Well, there's more to life than maxing stats. Sometimes you want an underwater priest, or a throwing-cavy, or a deeply metaphorical compass.

I feel like stranding a boatless alt on Mutton Island for the next year.

Can anyone think of a reason that this would be unworkable?

I think I hit 11 last year, but someone may seriously want to check their own notes. I feel that you run out of unique titles after awhile though and there aren't any higher level rewards.

12 is the highest I've seen, and it had the same title/reward as 11.

It's true that none of them are best in slot, but they're still collector's items, and can be useful to players who haven't been playing the game for years. The Submerged Rector for example will last someone quite some time, at least until they get the slightly better Hallowmas Rubbery or the Tomb Colonies renown 40 companion.

How to get the Paramount Presence? Do it really require Notability 15 four times and Notabilty 12 four times (or fate) among other things?

Very simple:
  • Choose a main stat and ensure it's 200 (unmodified).
  • Use the stat-relevant Unfinished Business storylet to choose the stat-relevant POSI specialization.
  • Increase Notability to 15
  • Spend the 15 Notability on the An Unsigned Message card to overcap you chosen stat to 215.
  • Use the same Unfinished Business option to get a unique "London's Organism" quality (by meeting one of three end game requirements).
  • Use 12 Notability or Fate to reset your POSI specialization
  • Pick another main stat and repeat it all.
  • Once you have all 4 different "London's Organism" qualities you get the option to become a Paramount Presence.
Actually, that doesn't sound very simple after all... :-)

Correct - most social actions can't reach people outside of London itself.

Letters and Christmas cards are an exception that can reach anyone, anywhere (even up NORTH!).

The mail delivery system in the Neath is phenomenal.

Nope.

I even went into the Seeking section in my Lodgings; the Fortigan's hint is still there, as well as telling me that I unlocked it by having no candle. I'm wondering if I needed to repeat certain actions or build up a certain quality to a certain number or something?
Looking at your Seeker's journal and cross-referencing it with the wiki, it looks like you attended the first service, had a meal, and then stepped back into the other room. You aren't missing St Beau, are you (I'm not sure how you would)? If you go back can you continue the services for each candle until the end?
Edit: Oops, kinda hoped I caught that message in time to stick it in a spoiler tag and update with the other echo I found.

One Sudden Insight per action. With negative EpA. Its worse than chess playing.

For what exactly? Got 66 for now.

Come Christmas, if you want extra pails of snow, the urchins will sell them to you for a painful night whisper and 7 storm threnodies each.

  • To my deep and abiding sadness, Hallowmas no longer works by accumulating Spirit (well, it didn't last year - presumably things will change again, since a regular yearly explosion would be narratively silly). As far as I know new Hallowmas doesn't have a way to get a dreadful surmise (it's possible the fate-locked option provided one, but I never played it).

The only free source remaining is the Feast option, unfortunately. Perhaps a fate story provides one somewhere, but I don't know not being a fate using player.

Do you want it for the Christmas option and not just collector's value? If so, I've personally never used it; getting 9 Taste is easy enough without it, and that's the most expensive lodging.

Destinies are the same. The only small difference is in the storylets that lead you to one of the Destiny paths, e.g. Drowning Feast in the Fruits of the Zee Festival.

Exactly! Plus to have the other 4 requirements. It's a very long grind and it's directly tied to your BDR, but I think it's something worth pursuing!
There's no well afaik in the Carnival, so the key ingredient isn't that, I don't think.

My guess is that they're Lorn Flukes on Mutton Island and Rubbery Men at the carnival.
Side note: Wells don't work on islands. The water you draw will be saline due to the close proximity to the salt water that surrounds it. It can be a problem near shorelines too. So I dunno how Mutton Island's well would be remotely palatable, unless all those weird rituals actually do something to the water.

I get all my sudden insights from a combination of chess with alts, the Great Game/Church conflict card, and The Web card from the Nadir.

Once Christmas rolls around you can get a mountain of them from christmas cards. Just request the Tentacles card from other people.
