Remember, friends: you read it here first.
Yeah, no.
The Drownies might have a grudge against Feducci for refusing to let one of their number leave the Black Ribbon. More likely though he would have wanted to avoid the Dauntless Temperance Campaigner, who would have protested him, as she does.

Equally significant, just what are the Campaigner and the Detective plotting? I mean, they're obviously plotting something... The Campaigner is talking about a year long campaign and the Detective is all "wink, hint hint, wink" about Feducci & the Elder Continent. I rather got the feeling that the Campaigner is doing what she always does. Doesn't she spend every year campaigning? "We're here to establish some guiding principles for the rest of the year's campaigning..."
This is a bit different from her usual activities, wherein she supports a grab bag of good causes. Here she's talking about a single, organized, year long effort - i.e., combating the mayor. edited by Anne Auclair on 8/22/2017

This is a bit different from her usual activities, wherein she supports a grab bag of good causes. Here she's talking about a single, organized, year long effort - i.e., combating the mayor. Never having had any insight into her plans before this year, I do not know that we have grounds for comparison. Do we have any evidence that she has not had long-range plans in years past? I do not know of any, and one cannot argue from a vacuum.
(In fact, now I reread it, "some guiding principles for the rest of the year's campaigning" sounds not like a new offensive against Bythenhale but a continuation of her work from the first half of the year.) Also, we do not know precisely what she intends to do over the next year. Her speech is interrupted by people complaining about Feducci, which mostly annoys her. While further action against Feducci is highly probable (given that she's protesting him already), we cannot say with any certainty how much the mayor is affecting her long-term plans. edited by Siankan on 8/22/2017

Ah yes, the one thing we can predict about our esteemed mayor is that he'll do his best to be unpredictable.
I'll also take this opportunity to thank the creative team for maintaining quite a bit of spotlight on all three of this year's candidates. With the quite polarizing and charged course of the Election, it is good to see they haven't given up on either their plans or public appearances.
The Detective's appearance quite clearly foreshadows the delicious Elder Continent content we've been told to expect, and I am likewise looking forward to see what the Campaigner is up to. Both ladies seem posed to subvert Feducci's own scheming to the best of their abilities...
Also, the idea of the Paramour actually being Jenny made me chuckle

I thought they had to eat the flesh, to prepare them, and then drown before it can leave the system. It's happened accidentally to folks at zea who eat the wrong catch and have bad luck...

It was beautiful, no complaints... it was just unexpected. If I was focused on gains, I admit the festival would have made me go ballistic but I am treating it as a summer adventure and having fun so far.

Maybe some up-and-coming Black Ribbon duelist put Feducci out of commission again. Ah, memories…

I do wish that there was more new content this year, though I appreciate that they haven't added more Fate-locked items.
It may be unreasonable, but I'd rather Failbetter stopped adding Fate-locked items without any content entirely. Or at least dramatically reduced the quantity of them. Between Exceptional Friends and the wonderful Fate-locked stories, surely you could do without them?
They leave a bad taste in the mouth, and might mislead potential players into dismissing Fallen London as yet another pay-to-win game.

This text from the Fruits of the Zee is so sad!

Have they actually added any recently? All of the FotZ items were originally free, though the older ones are now Fate-locked. The Election added a couple but iirc the new ones were all obtainable as your free gift (which is a nice mechanic and I wish they'd implement it elsewhere). The revamped Hallowmas content had one indirectly Fate-locked item but that's it. Sacksmas sometimes adds new Incarnadine Robe items but FBG is trying to provide alternative Home Comforts and Transports through Renown.
The FotER is the one holiday where I definitely agree there's to much focus on Fate-locked items and not enough on content. Even the free items are more grinding than Feast content. The Feast hasn't had many changes in a while so hopefully it'll receive some reworking next year.

For those who are staying at or returning to London, there is some new Fruits of the Zee content at Jenny's Finishing School.

I was just there and didn't spot it. Off to the carousel again! I love Jenny content.

The Zailor pupil has a new Fruits of the Zee-themed card, for one thing. Not sure if there's anything else.

When I try to fish, the fisherman tells me to turn in my catch to the Chef, Curate, or Hooded Lady, but the only options I'm being given are to sing/dance with the Drownies or to give them five strange catches. This is my first Zee festival, so I'm not sure if I'm just looking in the wrong place or what. Can someone help me?

The options you get are decided by your Airs quality. Keep clicking on the options and you'll get the ones to give them to the Curate/Chef/Hooded Lady eventually.

Yes! Which is why I keep freeing him instead of getting anything else - no chance to resist this text.
By the way I have been on the island forever and have not seen the Implacable Detective once. Perhaps she only appears to those who voted for her? And in that case, can I get a link to her echo?
