1. The Society item is Slowcake's Exceptionals. 2. As a source of Watchful, no - you're going to need a goat for anything seriously difficult and there are other cheaper options for BDR. However it is a good (though extremely expensive) option when using your salon which you might consider if you're after 15 Notability (this usually loses you the Matriarch). If you just fancy one but don't feel like paying there's always the chance to get one from a boxed cat. Minor correction, but "An Ancient Enmity" seems to be an alternate success rather than a rare one; the flavour text suggests as much. So you don't *usually* use the Midnight Matriarch, there's something like a 50/50 split, it seems. (Though it warrants more research, I'll try to stack up some cats and see how many times I fail or succeed).

After the recent conversion, I ended up with 50 Renown Bohemians, and I've obtained all three faction items. What is the most profitable use, now, for my Bohemians Favours? Is it worth the Scandal and wine on the faction card to obtain said Favours?

If I gain 'stain on my soul', is there option to remove that? Or I'm on the road with no return.

Calling in a favour at the Palace gives 210 honey. They can be very useful in building up your salon if you have one, but it probably isn't worth going out of your way to get them otherwise.

The conflict cards are the best, and if you're spending any of the favors on honey from the shuttered palace, then no, a single favor isn't worth 50 pence, 1 cp scandal, and an action.
You can still get profitably get bohemian favors from visiting the Repentant Forger and from a scandalous party on the Handsome Townhouse card. edited by Kaijyuu on 8/12/2017

So I'm going back and redoing some profit calculations with , and I just wanted to double-check one which surprised me. I got the conclusion that it's not worth spending 1 echo to get criminals favors on the cards that have that option if I'm going to cash in via pugilism and politics/beating the minister.
Here's my calculation. Pugilism and politics/Beating the minister gives either 1 or 2 magnificent diamonds, 3 ostentatious diamonds, and 1 cp of suspicion. If I value the suspicion at -0.25 echoes (not sure what exactly to put it as, but usually one action can clear a few suspicion CP, so 0.25 seemed reasonable) , then the expected value here is (12.5*1.5+0.5*3-0.25) = 20 echoes on average. It takes 7 favors, which take 7 actions to get, and if I'm using the expensive ways of getting it that could take 7 echoes, for an overall profit of 13 echoes/8actions, or 1.625 EPA, below the affair of the box, i.e. not worth it for echo grinding at the cap.
Whereas, the option to Try to glimpse a smuggler, giving 4.45 Echoes for 1 favor, remains profitable even for the expensive ways of getting favors - at (4.45-1)/2=1.725EPA even for the expensive 1 echo favor purchases.
Man, trying to figure out the truly optimal way of grinding echoes favors is kind of difficult! edited by Amalgamate on 8/13/2017

Yup, all looks good.
Puglism and Politics is better than glimpsing smugglers assuming no cost on the favor gain. It's still better even when using a gang of hoodlums or 50 pence cost sources. So if you want to maximize your money gain, you might just want to sell your Alluring Accomplice and only use options that cost ~70 pence or less for a favor. edited by Kaijyuu on 8/13/2017

I want to change my Aunt's profession and send her to work for Mr Wines. How much Connected: Masters do I need for that? (I'm assuming just 1 but I'd rather know for certain before spending Fate.) Also, exactly how many actions will be refreshed on success on that lovely card I'm supposed to get afterwards?

I forget off-hand how much Master connection you'll need (probably just 1), but on success the card will restore 10 actions.

What's the success rate on it? I've had that card and I've basically stopped playing it because I feel like it's just a tiny fraction of the time.

20%, I think? It's pretty low, but in the long run you'll get more actions than you put into it.

I haven't kept track. The estimate I've seen is 30%. If true, using the card 10 times will give you a net of +20 actions at a cost of 7 wounds. That's a good deal.
If it's 20%, then using the card 10 times gives you +10 actions for 8 wounds. Still a good deal.
Out of curiosity, how can you spend 1 echo for a Criminals favour? No opportunity card springs to mind unless I've been missing something.

The Ruthless Henchman and Alluring Accomplice cards have 1 echo options to buy a Criminal Favour, I believe.

When you return from exile in the tomb colonies, you leave depending on your Hedonist and Austire quirk qualities.
So what happens if both qualities are 10+? There is no option to leave in such an event.

The algorithm goes like this:
If Austere >10, you may leave and halve Hedonist. (It doesn't matter what level of Hedonist you have.) Otherwise, if Hedonist >10, you may leave and halve Austere. Otherwise, you leave without changing your quirks. edited by Tyrconnell on 8/14/2017
