I just used "A True and Dedicated Shepherd of Souls", and I got 4 Church favours for it. (Not sure if the amount of Constable favours were changed--I had 5 at the time, so I only got 2 more). I got 4 church and 3 constable favours.(have both zero before)
Before the church/bohemian conversion, I would get 5 constables favours for a true and dedicated shepherd of souls. Has this changed? It changed.
I also got 4 for Church, 3 for Constables. So it seems to not be random after all - just different amounts.

I guess it would have been wishful thinking to hope for 5 favours each. Oh well.

Doesn't that make the option pretty worthless then? At least depending on how much you care about your menaces - one-click wipe could be useful in some circumstances (but I believe it's still not worth it from an EPA point of view).

Won't that be a shame if it doesn't pan out from an EPA perspective?
Given that favours disposal and menace maximization require quite a bit of thought and a certain amount of luck, I had rather hoped for better.

Wait a while before trying to cash in; I just tried A True and Dedicated Shepherd and didn't get any society favours, so I don't think that's live yet.

Yeah. I had already found it more effort than its worth to earn a profit. I mostly just kept the shepherd card on hand to wipe menaces when they got too high, or to give myself a clean slate before starting an exceptional story.
I'm not particularly complaining though. I became a shepherd knowing it was likely mechanically worse than spirifer, because I wanted to make the ethical choice. I'm not sure the card needed a nerf though, if that's what this ends up being. Giving lectures now just provides 2 dubious testimony, for a total of 1 echo. That was one of the major sources of shepherd income, and without it I'm not sure what the new ideal grind is. What other options are there that let you raise menaces at a profitable rate?

Just tried the card. Most expensive option still wipes all menaces, and now gives a few CP of making waves. Gives 4 favours each of church, constables and society.

The only thing I think the options on the shepherd card need are a bump to "adrift on a sea of misery." I think it's an altruistic public service and should probably be treated in a similar light to the charity options on the soft-hearted widow card in terms of their societal effects.
It appears that they had the same thoughts that I had, or saw my post and stuck it in at the last minute. Either way I'm happy.

I got 5/4/4 respective Church/Constables/Society favours out of the "True and Dedicated" option. So far there thus seems to be a 3-5 Favours range. Let us hope it can't get lower. If anyone gets a result outside that range, I suggest they share it in this thread edited by Aardvark on 8/10/2017 edited by Aardvark on 8/11/2017

You mean Church, Constables and Society, right? Otherwise they're messing with this more than I thought. :p

Of course. Corrected my post accordingly. I've just been preoccupied with the novelty of these three

Personally, I'm more in favour of paying five and fifty for the more thoroughly reliable 1 of each.

It's also 3 favours for ~3 actions, while T'n'D is "upto" 15 favours for ~27 actions - not even half as effective.

Has anyone ever gotten less than 4 of a Favour? Let’s not jump to conclusions about this.
By the way, this still feels overpowered to me.
