What is the source of moon pearls? Are they just a thing that exists or is there a story behind their connection to the moon?

No one has an answer to this? Really? Really?

I guess I can attempt a guess. It's really a bad day when I am your only hope.

A moon pearl is... a pearl.

Once upon a time, Moon Pearls were categorized as "Zee Treasures".

What makes pearls and lives in the sea?

Spong- eeerrrrr oysters! They make pearls, right?

Pearls are apparently sand that has been left inside an oyster for a looooooooooooooooooong time.

The Zee is different than the Surface Sea. Soooooo the sand is different? What does that have to do with the moon?

SECRET LORE: There are creatures, basically white lobster-centipedes, that live in the roof of the Neath. They are called moon-misers.

They shed glim... for some reason. Yes, that is where glim comes from!

The majority of the Neath is the Zee. Soooo the roof of the Neath is usually above the Zee.

Glim falls INTO the Zee. It either sinks or washes up on a beach or something.

Oyster eats glim

Glim becomes moon pearl.

BOOM. DONE.

That's not implausible, actually.

But it requires there to be a bed of hyper-moon sensitive oysters somewhere.
