For one already a posi, what's the best Shadowy grind? My watchful and persuasive are near enough to 200, but the others are much lower (shadowy at 154, Dangerous 122), and even getting to 40 renown with some factions is currently outside what I can do. Which sucks as I'm really close to criminals 40

Fastest shadowy is the lodging social action, if you want to do it solo its using the flit and giving information to the criminals. But if you want some money it the affair of the box grind.

Re: stat grinding, I don't think anyone mentioned yet that Exceptional Friends have access to an even better method. Inviting a friend to a private room in the House of Chimes gives both players three Confident Smiles.

Shadowy also is increased by 20cp at the completion of a Heist - not th best for grinding perhaps but is at least amusingly and perhaps profitable.

I'd recommend wearing items that brings Shadowy to 180-181 and then get 2 CP for every 90% success at Playing the game in Wilmot's end, assuming that you'd be willing to trade Collections of Curiosities with Tomb-Colonists. But heists are good too, especially if you also want to make waves for a higher Notability. Though that requires quite some dedication, and preferably five card lodgings.

Hi All: After getting my Watchful up to 207 with an Extraordinary Mind, I went to the Cave of Nadir thinking I'd get whatever I lost back at the end. But apparently that's not so--once it's over 200, it won't come back. I wrote to FG about and got this reply: "Any stat points lost above 200 to the Nadir can't be regained without spending Notability again, I'm afraid. If you want to maintain a boosted stat, you'll have to stay away from the Nadir and other causes of stat loss. Hope that clears things up for you." But--I don't see any choice to sacrifice notability again at Ladybones Road. Or will the card come up again in my hand? Am I now stuck at 205 forever, am I locked out of Nadir forever if I want to keep 205? And what else do I need to be on the lookout for that will damage my base watchful? Thanks for any help you can give--

The card will eventually come back in your hand. And you are locked out of the Nadir if you want to keep that (although you can prolong the decay by making your Nadir trips short and leaving before your Irrigo reaches 6, which multiplies the stat penalty).
Other things that will damage Watchful include Seeking, one or two mid-level Dream cards, one of the Nightmares challenges in a state of some confusion, and the City Vices: Orthographic Infection card. See here for a more comprehensive list.

Thanks so much! Glad to know the card comes around again! I thought I was stuck on 205 forever! I'll study up on the other things to avoid--have a great weekend--Tay1or

Has there been a quiet change to dreams preventing you from drawing, say, a What the Thunder Said card that also boosts Death By Water if you're over the content cap with Death By Water, or am I just having rotten luck?

I think it's just unfortunate luck - I've gotten that card recently.

I'm doing a bit of research into The Calendar Code and the Season of Revolutions overall to make a post on the Council and their relation to a certain novel. So far I'm combing through echoed actions and forum posts, though I'm wondering if I should replay through The Calendar Code again to make it easier or get information the echoes don't carry. Which would make more sense to you?

The latter cost money and doesn't guarantee results, so just ask away and hope someone can answer you first? :P

If you light then soon extinguish St. Forthigan's candle, does that make it go all blackened forthigan?

What led to this candle-lit scene in a churchyard? I haven't the slightest memory of what card or storylet took me there.

I remember that story too. I think it's some early one, like investigating St Dunstans?

I'm with Suinicide on that one. It's been a long time since I've played the 1000 candles card, but that seems about right for what happens next.

I try to draw my cards exclusively at my Lodgings or in the Flit, so I think I've only played that card the one time. I was quite surprised to get a result with such extraordinary implications (no not the item) from the central option on a repeatable card. Proper spoilers below.
