I do wonder what the in-universe explanation is for why Feducci doesn't permanently kill you. Maybe witnessing your skill in previous fights makes him consider you potentially useful for some future goal of his? Even if he doesn't have an immediate role for you planned out at the time he might be hesitant to kill you off permanently just in case. It wouldn't really surprise me if his whole Society is just a scouting operation for some personal goal of his that requires a group of sufficiently skilled fighters. Becoming mayor could also play into that, whether it's just for profits, connections, or specific information.
This is just my on the fly personal conjecture, though. Take it with a grain of salt - I don't have any significant evidence to back it up.

Yes, and Royal Fencing Instructor is a swordsman of no equal, so the player booby-traps the battlefield, and (more or less accidentally) feed her to whatever is hiding in the Palace Cellars. Welcome to BR, where rules are made up and fighting clean doesn't matter ;P It's hardly cheating when it's just part of the game. And if everyone is cheating, then no one is.

The whole point is to kill someone permanently. Since Feducci cannot permanently be killed, but he can & does permanently kill others, he's inviting people to a rigged game. It is literally impossible for him to lose. He might fail to win individual duels, but he cannot lose the game.

(we're slipping off-topic here, but that's fascinating) Now that I think of, in the ring of roses and the painted ring, the female BR duelist and Feducci take especial interest in you if you fight cheatingly in roses and patiently in painted. So he might be keeping an eye out for promising citiziens for his own shady deals.
That said, I just think the Boatman whisked the lance-pinned player away so quick that Feducci didn't even have a chance to chop them up or set them on fire properly. If you had the Horsehead Amuler (which is also cheating), there's also a note saying you hear hoofbeat as you die- which is pretty ironic, since its as much Feducci's warhorse that killed you as his master himself.

edit: Besides, the entire city of London is a one big rigged game. Take the election. There are three Mayors to pick from, but it's just an illusion of a choice for the masses. We know that London already has its Master(s). It's ridiculous to think a mere human, like DTC, could have a say against them. What's she gonna do, besides getting the Drowned Man stoned in his well? At least the Detective has a good fingerwork (cough). Which, to bring the off-topic discussion back on the track, is why Feducci is a good choice for the Mayor. Least he's not gonna disappear bc he pissed off the wrong Master (although he might disappear with election money in the middle of the night but that would be Understandable).
