Official Coalition Polling
Does an official coalition between the Dauntless Temperance Campaigner and Implacable Detective ingame sound good to you?
| I'm a Feducci supporter, so no. This is directly against my interests.: | 15 |
| I'm a Feducci supporter, but this sounds like a good time! Bring it!: | 16 |
| I'm a Campaigner/Detective supporter, and I don't believe my candidate should compromise by working with another, even if you think they're compatible.: | 15 |
| I'm a Detective/Campaigner supporter, and I'd love to see these two ladies take on London's ills!: | 41 |
| I'm undecided. If Failbetter thinks it could work, I don't object, but I'm not sure it's a good idea.: | 8 |

After this week's Fedduci info from the flash-lay... Anything to stop Feducci.
Especially as it seems the Detective is willing to work with the Campaigner with her funneling resources to the Campaigner campaign apparently.

While I remain skeptical whether or not the Implacable Detective cares about London's ills and mayorship aside from the resources she will be receiving for her campaign in the Elder Continent, I do agree that their stated goals are largely compatible.

It seems a little mean to spring this on people (especially since we are past the halfway point with the update), and the elephant in the room of "what happens after Feducci loses" remains.

Ugh. I'd like to say that I think coalitions in general are a bad idea. I may be biased as the last one failed so miserably as to permanently damage an entire political party in my eyes and the most recent actually managed to increase the chances the chances of civil war in parts of the country. They are never what voters of either party wants.

Funnily enough, there is a way Detective and Campaigner supporters who were so inclined could support one another at the expense of Feducci, and I'm surprised no one's mentioned it: http://community.failbettergames.com/topic24546-fixing-debates.aspx
The mechanics are already in place. Is it subverting the spirit of the mechanic? Absolutely. Will Feducci supporters call it dirty pool? Maybe. But for those who are cooperatively inclined and have Detective/Campaigner as a close second choice, alternating win/losses to build up both campaigns could be a viable strategy!
(Full disclosure: I'm a DTC supporter, but the Detective is my very close second choice. Everything I've learned about Feducci in the course of the campaign sketches me out wrt him becoming mayor.)
