Another interesting question - where do you dig the hole?
Because you don't dig a well *up*, and anyone trying to dig a well down from the Surface is, given Neath geography, probably going to cover all of Europe in holes without ever finding the place.

The Canal, Travertine Spiral, and Aestival are all reference points. You can triangulate anywhere you want! In theory.
