Something that just now popped into my mind as I casually glanced over my echo count on the left of my screen.

Is the symbol for the echo possibly a correspondence sigil?
I know most of them tend to burn or drive insane, but then I don't really remember there ever being made a reference to the symbol itself being ever used. Presumably pennies are still pennies and it's never been stated that the little symbol that might be liberally interpreted as an 'E' has any actual presence in-universe (perhaps on 1st city coins?)

So that leads to the question,
is the symbol of the Echo a correspondence sigil?

It does seem to match the thick calligraphic style most of the other symbols have, even though it's a lot more simplistic in structure than the other correspondence sigils we know and has a straight bar (but that might just be a little alteration to take away its reality-shaping effects, *gasp* the pieces are falling into place!). Perhaps the correspondence word for "Currency" is commonly used and thus simpler to write?

This is a rather interesting theory!

Ooh, I like it! Possibly not a full correspondence sigil since it's not driving people insane, but maybe it's like half of one or something.

Social invitations of all kinds welcome, especially games of chess and deadly sparring!

Also happy to help with nightmares, send sips of Cider, and plant battle.

Or we can go even further:
How many men and women in the Neath and on the surface lost their minds or have them shattered, did terrible things to people dear and not, changed perception of this very world due to money and currencies? Ow those shiny little bits of wealth!

Maybe, there is a fraction of Correspondence sigil in EVERY (or at least most) currency? $... €... £... how many times men's minds falter at these symbols?

Maybe the truth is much wider and deeper than merely ECHO?
