I'm afraid you should have read further down in that thread, as my math there was incorrect. The actual number turned out to be 1.71 Echoes/Action, and I have since then switched to More than just messages due to no Suspicion on failure, and also a frequent (10%?) rare success. The effect from Nikolas & Sons Instant Ablution Absolution also seemed to take a severe dip for PoSI, so that also affected my decision. _______________________________ edited by Gillsing on 7/2/2017

In that case it works out to 1.806 EPA, less the Suspicion handling. During an Election, of course, that might be insanely profitable since you could work out having someone clear 35 points of Suspicion for only one action from you.... I might also want to compare this to public lectures in the FQ, but since that's getting reworked shortly I don't see a pressing need to bother.

I'd not heard anything about trading clues for diamonds being notably profitable. Let's see, 200 clues for 45 flawed diamonds is a loss of £4.00 and a gain of £5.40, which on its own is £1.40pa. Does anyone know how often the rare success occurs?
5% of attempts. (It's in my math, though not annotated.) From a purely monetary standpoint, it's one of the best storylets in the game; too bad it's restricted by your supply of Clues. (Another reason to only play Neath's Mysteries for the 4E option.)

A while back I turned in 200,000 clues for diamonds and got ~70 Magnificent Diamonds, which is within 2 standard deviations I'm pretty sure if the chance is really 5%. So yeah, reasonably common rare success.
