I'm on the edge of my seat, waiting to see how this year's mayoral candidates will be, but I'll wiggle back onto the cushion in order to provide a firm grounding for this week's quick questions quead! ...er, thread!

(from previous thread)
Does someone know the average echo value of Pugilism and Politics/Beating the Minister option? Wiki says it gives 1-2 Magnificent Diamond but I don't know how often it gives 1 vs 2. Is it about 50-50, or is the 2 diamond option more like a rare success?

As far as I know, ranges are equally weighted. So it should be 50-50.

Is it possible to restart fate-locked part of the Foreign Office story? I divorced my Cultural Attachée to marry someone with normal dining habits, so I would be happy to get a fate-locked Home Comfort instead.

I just had this pop up while clicking on a card (Sinning Jenny's one, as it happens):

Be sober, be vigilant, because your adversary walketh about as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour
You've gained 1 x Cryptic Clue (new total 28971)

Never seen that before. Once it was done I was redirected back to the card, which worked as normal. What's that all about?

It's possible, but you have to go through the Foreign Office grind and pay additional fate.

Oh, thanks! This is what I am going to do.

Is there any reason other than RP to stay married to an NPC?

AFter much grinding I got my correspondence stones back. Is this just a nice to have or will it trigger more storylets?

Just nice to have, I think. Having the stones unlocks an option on Understanding the Correspondence in the Forgotten Quarter at A Name in Seven Secret Alphabets 5–6, but that's all I can find. I do suspect that FBG might have made plans for them to be useful in the long term (otherwise why have the storylet in which you recover them?).

For the stat boosts and for the profitable cards these unlock.

Those are good reasons! It always struck me as odd that in FL as soon as you form a relationship with an NPC the next available step is to end it!

reply to previous weekly thread post. it is bad to not log to forums for a day smile
Regarding my question with patronage, the watchful 26 requirement was showing up as a quality my protege must be below. I know it used to be 100 but it is showing as 26 now for me. if that is not the case for anyone else, it is probably bugged for me. I should contact support if this is not intended.

This might be a bug then. I didn't see this myself and I've played all the (currently available) patron/protege options in the last few days to update the wiki with the new mechanics.

If you still see this, you should send a bug report.

Sounds like a bug - that line is from a very different piece of content. How did this message appear? Did this happen when you clicked on the card or an option on the card?

It happened when I clicked on the card, instead of the card options appearing there was simply this text in the beige space where content goes, with an option to click to continue, which I did and found myself on the Sinning Jenny card as normal.

And the message that had appeared was reproduced in my messages tab, the way social interactions and game messages (such as Time the Healer) do.

Like so...

That's strange, the "be sober, be vigilant, ..." message comes from an access code.

Yeah, what you're describing also sounds like the game behavior for redeeming an access code. Had you entered one recently, even if you didn't log in immediately afterwards?

No. I don't think I've ever entered an access code, apart from the ones that happen sort of automatically when you click on the advent calendar.

No, I've never been anywhere near a Google Doc in my life.

How very, very queer.

Did anyone on the writing crew have "See Naples and die" in mind when they were working on the Canal, I wonder?

It could just be coincidence, I suppose, but...well.
