Is there a way to raise Austere without decreasing hedonist? I wuld like to have them both above eight but the Tomb colonies nuked my austere and I haven't find a way to increase the one without losing the other - save the God's Editors card.

Give up on Hedonist temporarily, and then get it all back by enjoying the decadence during the Feast of the Exceptional Rose 2018?

A bit far reaching! You can grind either quality at the Tomb Colonies but to grind both would probably require a week there.

I think Austere can be ground in Iron Republic without losing Hedonist. Also, the God's Editors opp card, "work diligently".

At least eight. (Probably the limit is the number of people you can be Aquainted With)

This. It lets you get Austere to 10+2 change points without touching your Hedonist. Three change points at a time.

I was afraid it would be the only option! I will have to avoid the bohemian card too. Well, once I get Hell Renown to 40, I can start trying to hoard Austere.

Is the fate locked option in the Jack's end gives you something other than fast track to London?
According to http://fallenlondon.wikia.com/wiki/The_Jack-of-Smiles_Case there are fate locked storylets before the case's end, but I received no opportunity to play them.

Could you be more specific on how it suppose to work Could I have played After Jack/the Aftermath of the Secrets, or there were some hidden content that I have missed?

I'm not sure what you need clarifying, it iust gives you the rewards and texts for both endings.

Oh, I see. There's indeed combined text in my journal, but sadly, the reward was exactly the same as in the "After Jack" which confused me. Thank you for claryfing.

No secret, as that's been posted a few time already on the forums:
That item is on the slow boat (i.e. you have to die to find this item)

There are (currently!) no in-game benefits to Renown beyond 40.

Is it worthwhile to grind "Connected" qualities before they are converted to "Renown"? I would have to start nearly from scratch. Should I just let it go?

I'm tempted to say forget the whole system and just enjoy the game. You probably won't get very far (Bohemian and Society are going have a BRUTAL conversion rate, I fancy), and the low tier items that might be in your reach aren't really worth the bother anyway, in my opinion.
I spent months grinding Hell, only to find the Renown 40 item wasn't as good as the thing I had in that slot already. An utter waste of time when I could have been playing the game more. Grinding is tedious, and I think I've had my fill. The Constables one was very nice, though. But worth all the time I spent to get it? Not sure. I think I'm going to ignore Renown from now on and just play the stories. edited by Plynkes on 6/11/2017

Let me put it this way: There seems to be a direct correlation between how much people grind Connected pre-conversion and how much they complain post-conversion.
The real answer to your question depends on why you play Fallen London and what you enjoy in it. The items you get from renown may be useful to you, depending on what else you're kitted out with, but they are primarily for bragging rights and for enjoyment as themselves. If you enjoy collecting unusual items and you don't enjoy getting them by slowly building a background quality, then yes, I would say go ahead and get as much a head start as you can (but beware that the head start's going to have to be pretty significant to warrant the effort). If items only matter to you for their stats, I would say wait and see which ones look worthwhile to you. If you don't mind enjoying the journey, then I would say don't worry about it and pick it up as it comes. If you're in it primarily for roleplaying, then I would say do what your character would do and don't worry about what your potential Renown might be.
So I guess that means, yes if you're in a narrow band of interest, no otherwise.

Maybe this is not the right place, but can someone enlighten me why only Favours: The Docks has an Airs of London option to increase them?
