No it does not. I tested it today. However, I don't know if it does anything to renown (the character I tested it with had 0 renown). You do lose all favors, though.

Well, when first came out with Renown system, FBG stated that it is how well known you are to that certain faction. Famously or infamously.
While I don't think robbing the embassy raises Renown, conceptually it should. And for that reason it really should not LOWER it.

One of the sidebar mini stories explicitly states a Cider owning person can return to the surface without dying. It always struck me as a bit odd, given that the cider itself is against the Law, but oh well. Also yeah there's no in-game way to return to the surface (anymore; there was with old seeking, and that killed you no matter what).

I see most of the sidebar snippets as word-on-the-street type of rumours. i.e. these come from unreliable narrators and represent what some people in London believe.

Want a sip of Hesperidean Cider? Send me a request in-game. Here's an_ocelot's guide how.
(Most social actions are welcome. Please no requests to Loiter Suspiciously and no investigations of the Affluent Photographer)

That option is still in SMEN, just minus the (supposed) permakill.

Someone may have already answered this in one of the numerous threads relating to the recent renown/favours change, but I couldn't find said answer - does robbing the Brass Embassy now give one a criminal record?

As already said, it wipes Favours but there's no criminal record increase. There's also no change to Renown. Cmon Failbetter, wasn't that one of the original examples for options that should increase Renown? :P

Is the wiki page for They all look the same to me correct if one sides with the Rubbery?

No, it was nerfed with the recent update to constables. Not all the wiki pages are up to date.

Does anyone know why Tomb-Colonists don't all retire to Port Carnelian, what with all that healthy restorative heart-of-a-mountain stuff there?

Significant chance of being eaten by a tiger. I certainly wouldn't live there.

Probably. Who knows when though.

Plus the Tomb-Colonists already have the benefits of the Mountain's immortality aura. Immortality doesn't confer eternal youth after all. You'd have to live a lot closer (ie deep in the Presbyterate) to avoid becoming a decrepit zombie.

So, what's with the Presbyterate then? Is there some reason *not* to move there?

Probably a stupid question, but how do I unlock this month's ES? I can't seem to do it under the "A season of ruins: tormented dreams" storylet because my "an episode for exceptional friends" quality is 265, more than the 260 I need.

Can social actions be accepted while inside of the Mind of a Long-Dead God? Such as, for example, ones that reduce Wounds? This question is somewhat urgent.

In related news, if someone wants to be sent a letter from inside the Mind, let me know.

Sounds like a matter for a bug report.
