thanks. If you have high connect hell it seems that a card appears that you need to choose between it or the church. The looser choice resets the connection to 0. Or I remember wrong.

For non-Renown factions, the Conflict Cards will lose you 15 cp of the faction you side against (and gain 30 of the other). Your connected quality will drop to 0 only if it started at 5, which is the minimum requirement to draw the card. For Church/Hell in particular, siding with Hell gains 1 CP Scandal and some Brass, while siding with the Church removes 3 cp Scandal. I think there are some Quirk adjustments as well.

For factions converted to Renown, the unlock requirements for the conflict cards are hefty (5+ favors, and 30+ connected if the opposing faction hasn't been converted yet). The loss is more extreme, since Favors are set to 0, but the reward is so large that it's often the most profitable way to "spend" them. Hell is being converted "soon," and the Widow has a conflict card with Urchins who were converted recently.

If you're going for 40 or 50 renown once the conversion happens, hundreds. If not thousands. It's easy to grind Hell, so people are going to have a ****ton.
If you just want to be able to see the conflict cards, 50 is definitely enough, if not less.

The best way to grind hell is sell information in Flit?

Constables will be converted before Hell. And if you want 400 Connection (some people believe this is enough for 40 Renown) with them it will cost you about 2+ months of grind.
Maybe you can grind Hell faster than Constables. But its still probably unwise, if you have more interesting options than 2 months of grind without any story progress. Anyway, what do you get in the end? Probably, one item with +2 Stat better than you can buy.

Weapon with +1 Bizarre, -1 Nightmares and some stats(Bejewelled Cane). Pretty useful.

I looked it up and it looks like i's motly useless to me. Vey beautiful and peculiar, no doubt, and I like the +Bizarre, but It doesn't influence my stats of choice and I don't intend to put in the effort to purposefully seek sapphires.

Thanks a lot for the reply, this dilemma was really vexing me

Getting the Bejewelled Cane also means you'll stop drawing the (otherwise useless) Lapidary card.

The Foreign Office carousel does not grant dramatic tension at all.

Sorry, my mistake, it's the Wilmot's End carousel that grants dramatic tension quicker than war of the assassins.

The Bizarre bonus is the lesser portion of the Cane's benefits. You can get all kinds of items with +1 BDR in the weapon slot. What you can't get is any other item that helps your Nightmares. The Nightmare reduction isn't just about not visiting the Royal Beth; there are several non-discardable annoyances that come up when your Nightmares start getting too high, and the ability to drop your Nightmares by +2 (Cane + Fish) at need is great for clearing your hand.

I'd say high 400s are probably safe, but the urchins was harsher than everyone expected and people are paranoid.

Here's a link regarding best options to increase connections; it's best to have it bookmarked until you learn them all. In that thread there's a discussion about using Shepherd card for E gain.

Or just have a set of clothes that reduce Nightmares and Suspicion to keep the cards from popping! I find menace reducing items being the best ones!
The Cane with the Fish are very useful when you want to draw the Interpreter of Dreams (which requires level 3) in case Nightmares rise to high. You can get up to 6 without needing to worry about that nasty card.

You go round and round the carousel, option by option. It can take a while but the writing is good enough to console you.

Is it just me, or are other people finding that lately the game is a lot more buggy than it used to be? I get an empty beige space in the centre of my game page or a 'Not Found' page far more often than is comfortable these days.

I also have this problem way more often.

Lallinka is accepting any social interactions as soon as my actions allow it. No Loitering and no Photographer, please. Available for interviews about Nemesis and a Midnighter for Orphanages.

Ragish is accepting everything, including Loitering and Photographer. Available for interviews about Heart's Desire and a Crooked-cross for Salons.

Pienkava is freshly out of prison and will need charity to survive in the harsh streets of London. Have pity, she is only fifteen.
