I've been pulling cards pretty religiously today, and I've only gotten "An Encounter at the Feast" once (finally got the Ghostly Presence I've been hankering after and named him Edward). As a companion collector, the odds of getting the other 8 non-Fate companions I want are not looking good, or so it seems.
I was wondering how many times my fellow Neath-dwellers have drawn "An Encounter at the Feast" this year, to get a better sense of my odds and to satisfy my curiosity. Am I just having bad luck? Or is once every 12 hours or so pretty standard?
Thanks everyone!

Peh! Applying reason of all things to matters of the heart! Each day that passes is a petal fallen from an Inevitably Typical Rose! Who'd hold a feast for a flower like that? Why, just make it a mushroom at that point! "The Feast of the Exceptional Morel!"

Begging sir's pardon, but perhaps application of Irrigo bears consideration in this matter. After all, it's very difficult to want something you've forgotten about. Trust me -- I've tried.

My alt and main both drew the card once each yesterday . . .
Nothing today, so far. I do think another was correct that the cards were made into a storylet last year, at least if I remember rightly, but - still - find it hard to believe either are 'frequent'.
Edit: I think this thread is my good luck jinx; yesterday my main got the encounters after reading this, and today my alt got encounters and my main got Lilac . . . I think I'm just going to stalk this thread for a while. Not that I'm superstitious at all edited by Robin Alexander on 2/14/2017

Be encouraged! I drew the card three times yesterday: once for my own ghostly presence, one for Sister Lydia, and one for a certain diplomat. Luck will eventually turn, and also, even a single Encounter at the Feast per day would net you most of your non-Fate companions by the end of the week.
Also, there are a few measures you can take to improve your chances, however so slightly. First, move to a Remote Address until the Feast is over (or at least until you've seen Lilac and the Encounter card as much as you need to); this will trim out City Vices cards. Flip cards in the Forgotten Quarter to trim out area-specific cards. If you have any story-based cards that you can resolve (any lingering POSI cards, for example), advance them to the point they're no longer in your deck. There was a topic somewhere on the subject of deck trimming that might have more advice. None of these will dramatically increase your chance of finding the card, but they'll all help, and the cumulative effect can be noticeable. (That said, nothing involving an RNG is guaranteed.)

Having been through this several times now (this and other festivals), it always works out the same. You draw and draw and draw and you'll get it often enough to get all the companions you want--barely. Then for the rest of the feast, you'll draw it ever third or fourth card, when it clutters up your deck while you wait for something else.
I believe the Devs sometimes increase the frequency of a card, especially when a lot of people complain about it on this forum.

This is part of the great tradition of the Feast:
Week 1: Everyone exchanges gifts and are excited. Week 2: Lots of despair and frustration at the lack of Lilac and/or the Encounter card.
It's a proud tradition, going strong for several years now. It's no surprise that the game itself comments on the difficulty of finding Lilac's card. It wouldn't be the same Feast otherwise :-)
Jokes aside - hang in there everyone. The cards *will* appear if you keep flipping. It might take a few minutes or a few days, but it will happen. Also, if past behaviour is to be trusted as a guide, the cards' frequency will increase as the Feast progresses.

So I contacted FB about the problem, they replied that nothing was blocking my encounter card, I was just having bad luck. Just turned two cards--I got the Feast of the Rose and the Lady in Lilac. At the same time. When I have Masquing 30. Argh. I've never gotten the encounter card, not once, all week, and I'm turning cards regularly all day long.

Oh boo, that's disappointing. I was hoping to do a last minute send off if I needed more. Well, they were very clear about the timeline from the start, so that this year there would no surprises:

The Feast will end on the 20th February. The Lady in Lilac and Encounters at the Feast will remain available until the 24th, after which your remaining Masquing will be converted to Making Waves when Time, the Healer visits.

I moved not too long ago and I think you only lose the cards you are no longer eligible for (like city vice cards when you get a remote address). I managed to keep the Keen-Eyed Lapidary card when I moved to the Third City Temple, so I think moving is alright. edited by Bertrand Lyndon on 2/14/2017

It seems the RNG is inflicting it's traditional chaotic reign of terror upon all of us this feast. I have seen the Lady in Lilac a couple times but after 2 days of intense card flipping have yet to see An Encounter at the Feast even once.

Or we can just wait until the cards become storylets(since two other people said that they think it was like this last year as well it will probably just be that again).
Didn't the Mr. Sacks storyline become a storylet near the end of the Christmas festivities?
They did.

I'm in the same situation as DonaghyLogan. Pulled a lot of cards, only one Encounter. Got myself a Cat's Chiefest Claw (because of the Dreaded bonus).

Ms Logan, if there exists a method to swap one's fortune for another, inform me posthaste that we might undertake it together. I find myself in an apparently enviable position, having become acquainted with a smattering of companions during the Feast's festivities -- feastivities, perhaps? -- but I've yet to meet the enigmatic Lady in Lilac...and I'm going to have to meet with her at least twice before the Feast concludes!
Until then, I'm relegated to prancing about like a peacock (well, a peahen, technically) at his Lordship's functions! D__n these socialite gadabouts, they drive me to drink and deny me even that during their blasted parties!
In short, it's rough all over. Here's hoping both of our fortunes take turns for the better. edited by Ragged Martha on 2/13/2017
