An Encounter at the Feast Messages in this topic - RSS

I've been pulling cards pretty religiously today, and I've only gotten "An Encounter at the Feast" once (finally got the Ghostly Presence I've been hankering after and named him Edward). As a companion collector, the odds of getting the other 8 non-Fate companions I want are not looking good, or so it seems.

I was wondering how many times my fellow Neath-dwellers have drawn "An Encounter at the Feast" this year, to get a better sense of my odds and to satisfy my curiosity. Am I just having bad luck? Or is once every 12 hours or so pretty standard?

Thanks everyone!

Never understimate bad luck, though.

Ms Logan, if there exists a method to swap one's fortune for another, inform me posthaste that we might undertake it together. I find myself in an apparently enviable position, having become acquainted with a smattering of companions during the Feast's festivities -- feastivities, perhaps? -- but I've yet to meet the enigmatic Lady in Lilac...and I'm going to have to meet with her at least twice before the Feast concludes!

Until then, I'm relegated to prancing about like a peacock (well, a peahen, technically) at his Lordship's functions! D__n these socialite gadabouts, they drive me to drink and deny me even that during their blasted parties!

In short, it's rough all over. Here's hoping both of our fortunes take turns for the better.

I'm in the same situation as DonaghyLogan. Pulled a lot of cards, only one Encounter. Got myself a Cat's Chiefest Claw (because of the Dreaded bonus).

Since I aspire to be a companion collector, and this is my first Feast, I must say I feel a bit disheartened, but I won't stop trying. I hope to get a few more companions before it all ends.

We've got nearly a full week left. Keep drawing cards and you'll (likely) be able to get them all.

Didn't this become a storylet last year? (Before the feast ended I think it got turned into a storylet).

Peh! Applying reason of all things to matters of the heart! Each day that passes is a petal fallen from an Inevitably Typical Rose! Who'd hold a feast for a flower like that? Why, just make it a mushroom at that point! "The Feast of the Exceptional Morel!"

...Begrudgingly, you have a point.

I'm glad to learn I'm not alone! I'll keep up the incessant card-flipping, then. Best of luck to everybody in a similar position!

Just the one so far today.

In my experience the likelihood of a particular card appearing is inversely proportional to the amount one desires its appearance. So the trick is to stop wanting it.

You can't just stop wanting something, if you want something really badly you will want it, you can't just trick RNG by acting like you don't want something.

Begging sir's pardon, but perhaps application of Irrigo bears consideration in this matter. After all, it's very difficult to want something you've forgotten about. Trust me -- I've tried.

...Have I? I think I have. Hold a moment, I need to piece this together. Could've sworn...

It's perfectly possible if you have a proper command of yourself, rather being enslaved by your own emotions and desires. Damn it, standards have dropped such since the Fall. The old colonel would be turning in his grave...

...If we could actually keep the blighter in it.

There is actually more than a week. Look at the notice and you'll see that Lilac's card will be around until the 24th so people can cash in their Masquing.

Your austere nonsense...(looks at my austere quality), I mean, of course, I was just saying that in the name of those hedonists who can't keep the honey money for the poor or for the revolution...

I have forgotten how horrible trying to drawing Encounters at the Feast is.

Maybe this is supposed to be a metaphor about love you can’t bring yourself to confess? Except even more frustrating?

My alt and main both drew the card once each yesterday . . .

Nothing today, so far. I do think another was correct that the cards were made into a storylet last year, at least if I remember rightly, but - still - find it hard to believe either are 'frequent'.

Edit: I think this thread is my good luck jinx; yesterday my main got the encounters after reading this, and today my alt got encounters and my main got Lilac . . . I think I'm just going to stalk this thread for a while. Not that I'm superstitious at all wink
