No creative story here: I just accidentally hit the wrong button in my Lodgings and now I'm no longer an Author. I didn't have anywhere else to cry about this, so... yeah.

Are you a Person of Some Importance? If so, becoming an Author again is less of a chore - instead of writing a novel to advance, it only requires two Notability. (The Notability is not consumed.)

Oh! Do you mind telling me where I can find this option? I used to be a Correspondent, but made the switch back to Author after a long, tedious grind to write another Exceptional Short Story and having to pay Fate to draw the Bohemians card again.

You can advance from any Tier 2 profession (such as Journalist) to a Tier 3 profession (such as Author) from the 'An unsigned message' card, if you have Notability 2. Author is actually the only profession where you can advance without using that card.
