No. Just a case of spiteful RNG. The first time i drew cards after the announcement for Lady Lilac, she showed up. I didn't even look at the tatoo story in Ladybones' Road.
Even the "Intrigues of the Clathermont family" story makes fun of it: "She lurks in the Opportunity Deck, although she appears to have a talent for evading the attention of those who desire her most."
Nice crack in the fourth wall Mr. Gardiner. That thing is load-bearing.
By the way, i am still open to trading some last-minute non-fate gifts, if anyone needs some masquing.

Now I know there's no mechanical use, not even stat wise for me, of the Stiff Backed Young Lady, but I've been wanting her companionship since my original account and my first Feast, before I had the ability to deal in fate. But now alongside me is one of my favorite characters~

"The recipient can trade this for 1 Masquing, up to a limit of 30." This is what's written in the description of the ushabti on the feast storylet, but Lilac gave me 2 masquing for it(and it said it would give me 2 masquing, not one)

Last May or so, there was a rather strange bug for a few hours, where all cards with lock conditions - but no unlock conditions - were available to all players. The initial Secular Missionary card only locks with Intimate with a Secular Missionary, so for those few hours the card could appear for everyone. (The initial Firebrand card locks with his Intimate quality, but it also unlocks with C: Revolutionaries 5, so it was not affected.)
That first Secular Missionary card of course sets Intimate with a Secular Missionary to 1, so in that brief period of bugginess her story was reset for me. Fortunately the card linking her with the Firebrand is unlocked with sufficient progress with the Missionary rather than the Firebrand, and the option doesn't require exactly 10 for his quality. Thus I was able to reset the Firebrand's quality as well, repeat the Nadir expedition, and choose the Missionary this time around.
A pity I wasn't able to do all this before the bug was fixed, or I could have restarted the story again to get a second Missionary and see if that patch event for the 30 Missionaries is still around.

I've mostly left the forum alone for the last month or so, so I'm unsure if this has been resolved elsewhere, but is anyone else experiencing an issue with canceling gifts? You were once able to gift someone an item, have them decline the gift, and then the item would be placed into your inventory. Whenever I try the trick with non-Fate items now, though, the gift disappears completely. I want to be sure as to how this works, because I was looking for a few high-masquing companions but I don't want to waste the fate on fate gifts if they're just going to dissipate into the aether.

Update: FBG have responded that this was indeed a mistake - the Ushabti should be exchanged for 1 x Masquing, not 2.
