I think the reason is mostly mechanical reflection of flavor: you're advancing the liberation slowly but surely by working with the revolutionaries. It would make sense if it happened when you actually accrue connected CP with the revolutionaries, but having it occur only during the turnins makes it slower and steadier. It also makes the tradeoff one that hurts a little more: you either forgo payment or increment the LoN quality. As you find out more about the Liberation, it gives you a little bit of a twinge every time you do a turnin.

Just curious: how does one make those 50-trophy (and more) pickpocket's promenades? Since there are special storylets for that, it must be possible, right? 20+ I reach more or less every time, but I've never reached 30, even with Blythenhale plus Loitering. Is it a matter of pure luck? Do you need to discard everything you can and just wait for the Jack card? Or are there any cards that are only accessible at higher Shadowy levels?

I don't loiter right now, but I like chess and coffee, Strage Pranks, Bifurcated Dreams and the like. I also accept Calling Cards. Ask this shady individual to loiter or help with Menaces if you'd like. Out of Skulls for now, though.

Does visiting the Mind of a long dead god reset WtTS/Stormy eyed? I kinda want to do it, but that might mean I won't be able to get the 40 renown: urchins item for quite some time Eh. Who am I kidding. It'll be a year before I get Urchins to 40 anyway. Edit: Oh wait I need to rebuild WtTS before I can get there anyway. Well, looks like it'll be another year before I get there anyway. edited by Pumpkinhead on 1/22/2017

It does not reset WtTS, though, so it'll at least be quicker than it was the first time.

I also note that xe didn't cover the fact that you feel the same guilt for gaining CP church or masters, either.

It doesn't affect your WtTS but you need 0 Stormy eyed to leave the Mind (you automatically go to your lodgings when you get there). But you need to draw the card to start Stormy-eyed again which doesn't even turn up until you are at WtTS 18 and that takes your WtTS back to 0.
So even though you can enter the mind at 15 WtTS I would wait until you are at 18 before you go ... unless you misclick!

Sorry RL means I am not a very active player at the moment. No social actions unless you are prepared to wait and definitely no sparring or other mult-action things.
No Calling Cards or boxed cats please. Will take dupes on the affluent photographers. Other social invitations welcome. Parabolan Kittens usually available, send me an in-game social action saying you want one and I will get one to you as soon as possible.

What would be the 'safe' zone for getting renown 40 Constables?
I thought I had enough for Urchins, only for them to up it from 5/6 to 7 . . . I now have enough for 7, but fear they'll make it 8 or 9. I kind of wondered if anyone had any idea what a 'safe zone' would be for the upcoming conversion? Is 7 safe, or should I aim for 8 or 9 to be in the next formula?

I, too, thought I had enough Connected: Urchins to get Renown 50, based on the difficulty of raising this quality, and it turned out I had only enough for Renown 45. The factor of 7 is really not in proportion to the past conversion rates used. So, it seems that FBG are making this tougher to start off with lots of Renown, and we should expect the conversion rates to be steeper and steeper.
As a very quick comparison, and disregarding conflict cards, the reliable way to raise Connected: Urchins only gave +3 CP per action, and by selling secrets you can raise Connected: Constables at ~11 CP per action. Whether that would mean that the conversion rate for Renown: Constables would be 4 times as tough as for the Urchins is anyone's guess...

So either constables or hell are next, it seems, which answered my original question before reading the thread, but now I've a new one.
Are there any non-fate uncapped Connected: The Masters options? And then is the fatelocked attending a Revel as a Guest capped?

I vaguely remember the fate-locked guest being capped pretty low . . .
I think you can only gain one level from that card, regardless of whether you pay fate or not (so once you've played it, you won't gain any connection points from it again) . . . wiki seems to support this, too.
Personally, I got up to around 11 using Mr Pages, but - after that - used the non-fate options at Christmas. The rest was fate on the decommissioned steamer card. There used to be non-fate means at Hallowmas, too, but - much to my disappointment - no such options no longer exist there. You can gamble over at the Circus, if you feel lucky, but I'd advise against it (chances are extremely against you and you chance losing some connection).
If you don't want to spend fate or gamble, best to wait until Christmas.

In a bit of a rush now, but I remember FBG stating that the conversion factor is dependent on the community's average level, not sources of that faction. Urchins were announced many months before conversion so many people were able to increase to huge levels which resulted in a higher conversion factor. Considering that Hell can be raised more than constable (Polite invitation and CC), but both have an option of 11.25 CP/AP my guess is that we'll have a very big factor for both. Probably we'll see an 9-11.
