Is there a place where I can get large quantities of cryptic clues. I tried eavesdropping at the unfinished business at spite but my shadowy is not very powerful. Are there any watchful or even persuasive actions?

If you haven't finished the university investigations storyline, Investigations in the University is grindable and gives ~50 per action, depending on which option you choose. It also gives you some Investigating... which, if you've unlocked Chicanery heights in the flit, can be traded in for more clues.
...Oh. Right. I forgot about the Chicanery heights thing. I've got Investigating 104 right now and clues would be quite useful. Incidentally, does raiding a message drop reset investigating or just take some CP?
Eh. Gonna try it anyway.
Edit: It resets it. Dang. That was a lot of time I could have saved if I had used it wisely.

The maximum is 50 no matter your stats. But if you didn't specialize in shadowy you won't even reach that. (47 instead I think?)

So as far as Favour items go, are the ones at 40 Renown and 7 Favours the highest? I could have sworn I saw something about a possible item that unlocks at 100 Renown, but even without the stats going up, I think the grind would be too much.

It seems a bit of a shame Renown doesn't stop at 49, 7 being the Number...

40 is the highest item, yes.

I read somewhere that someone said the Nadir's story wasn't over. Is that actually true? Should I hold off selling the location in anticipation of more content?

This was painful to read upset

To continue my line of questions that probably don't have answers, is there any further information on when Knife-and-Candle might come off hiatus? It ended just when I arrived in the Neath and I have been eagerly awaiting the return since first reading about it.
Urchins!!!!!
Sorry! Didn't mean to spoil things before any official announcement. I've looked all over the forum (briefly) and couldn't find any info.
But... Yeah, my question:
Urchins?????
Really?
I'm just so stoked to finally find some content that I can't just look up on the wikia.

Warning: do not try to use the new Urchins options until the change has a chance to settle.

For example: I've tried (on an alt) the new option on the Urchins card to gain Favours: Urchins, and got nothing except losing my weasel (not even the Shadowy increase, or quirk changes).

It looks in-progress. Interacting with them in Flit now has a Renown lock-out instead of Connected, buy my character still has Connected instead of Favors. Rookery Password has no Favors option, only the existing Quirk polisher for Daring.

Speaking Softly in Flit gives Manic Prayers.

Edit: Ha, the stat change-over actually occured while I was posting this =P.

Hoooboy. I predict that the next Sackmas is going to be even more hectic and convoluted, now. As it should be.

It seems that my Connected: Urchins of 341 only converted to Renown 45 and not 50. Somewhat disappointing.

The formula seems to be (Connected - 21)/7 this time, maybe because we had so long to prepare.

Okay, I just did the math on this, and apparently choosing the right storylets is almost as profitable as the AotB grind. I know most people will be locked out of the university investigations, but it's pretty nice to know. It would have been nice to know before I built up 104 investigating, but better late than never.
If anyone's interested: chose Interview the department of ____ staff until you've built up 7 investigating (7 turns, 53 clues a turn for 371 total). Then raid a message drop in Chicanery Heights, which nets 270 clues, bringing the total clues to 641, or 1282 pence over 8 actions, for a total of 160ppa. Not quite AotB, but the watchful challenge is a lot easier than the shadowy challenge for AotB (plus I personally think watchful is much easier to increase).

Can't seem to find it, but someone did the math with these and it was a nice EPA, but always remember that CC can be converted into more profit via Bazaar Street. And more CC can be gained while unlocking AotB at Mahogany Hall.
Taking your math into consideration, you can exchange them for jewels 3.205 times (AP get up to 11.205), but the final E reward is 19.23 which takes the EPA up to 1.716.

My PTPT:TOL is too high for me to cash in my Pails by feeding it to a boar. What can I do with it now, ideally to continue increasing PTPT:TOL?

I don't really have a need to spend it in the Wicket, apparently. I was a bit surprised that the University didn't want me to do any research for them there, but I suppose after that business with Mr Sacks, I'm not too surprised...
